This week we said goodbye to our wonderful Ciara, who is moving on to a full-time role within an organisation.

Ciara brought such depth, care, and professionalism to her work as both a psychotherapist and social worker, and she will be truly missed, especially on our Wednesday evenings.

We wish her all the very best in this next chapter. While she moves on from the centre, we’ve no doubt our paths will cross again, especially at our team social events.

This is long overdue and very welcome.

Reading through the recommendations for a survivor-led engagement framework in Ireland, it’s encouraging to see a real emphasis on co-design, co-production and lived experience leadership.

Not tokenism. Not consultation after the fact.
But survivors at the table, shaping what support actually looks like.

The proposal for a national survivor-chaired Lived Experience Advisory Council could be a turning point, if implemented with integrity.

Because those who have lived it don’t just have a voice…
they have insight that systems alone will never replicate.

Let’s see this carried through meaningfully.

Pauline Buckley, one of our amazing counsellors, proudly represented The Misneach Centre last night as we were presented with the award for Most Topical Float at the Moate St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Our float was inspired by “Have you tried talking about it? a playful nod to Mrs. Brown’s Boys, while gently highlighting the importance of talking, connection, and mental health support.

Our award was kindly sponsored by The Grand Hotel, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support from our local community here in Moate.

The parade truly gets better every year, a testament to the dedication of the committee and organisers who make it all happen. Thank you for creating such a special event for the town.

We’re so proud to have been part of it and to share a message that matters.

Congratulations to all of the other award recipients, it was a fantastic evening celebrating community spirit at its best.

Such a special evening for some of the Misneach team attending the launch of Hungry by Katriona O’Sullivan.

What a breath of fresh air.
Honest, powerful, and deeply human. The kind of storytelling that stays with you long after you leave the room.

It was more than just a book launch. It was a reminder of the real, lived experiences behind so many of the people we sit with every day. A reminder of resilience. Of survival. Of what can happen when someone is truly seen and supported.

And most of all… a reminder of the power of psychotherapy.

To hold space.
To witness.
To gently walk alongside someone as they begin to make sense of their story.

Grateful for nights like this and for the work we get to do every day 💞
