THE POWER OF NASAL BREATHING WHILE RUNNING. (THE OXYGEN ADVANTAGE WAY)
I've been coming to El Toro in Majorca now for over 15 years to visit family (big shout out to Les, Tracey, Jodie, Daisy & Craig 😃). Each time I'm here i challenge myself to do a particular hill run that overlooks the town. I do my runs while breathing through my nose and also use a nasal dialator to help open my airwaves, due to having a narrow nasal passage.
As an Oxygen Advantage Functional Breathwork Instructor, I can vouch for the benefits of nasal breathing running, some of the advantages are as follows:
-Increased O2 uptake.
-Increased O2 delivery to working muscles.
-Improved Functional breathing for Functional movement.
-Conservation of moisture to help prevent dehydration.
-Protection of teeth & gums.
-Psychological benefits of accessing flow states.
-Better recovery.
When to breath through the nose during running?
-Low to moderate-intensity exercise: continue with nasal breathing in and out.
-Moderate to high intensity exercise: breath in through the nose and out the mouth.
-High intensity exercise: breath in and out through the mouth.
