I threw myself on and off a body board,
squealing, splashing and slabbering,
like a lady

Great craic! 🤣
and just what this Grinch needed

But I'll be back in togs tomorrow
Skins all the way for me 🩱
Getting out of a wetsuit is a high intensity sport that i dont have the skill, training or fitness for!

WINTER SOLSTICE

In a whisper
and breath

Light returns

Full disclosure,
Photos and post are from yesterday, scheduled to appear on your feed this morning,

wishing you solstice peace and love on this shortest day and longest night

without having to be online myself

It's a sacred, phone free day for me

Two full moons
since I've been in the tide

Sunrise,
solstice eve,
the perfect return

Tomorrow is significant
both day and night

I'll give thanks for darkness,
and returning light

in solitude
and silence

I'll sweat lodge
and break bread
in community. ❤️

Can you pause for winter solstice tomorrow, for one minute?

Re-member an ancient rhythm
that your soul never forgot.

When 'the green' is green
and blue is blue

Big clear sky, chilly breeze
gentle warmth of winter sun,
all at once

A day to feel your breath
and know the beauty of this place.

My knees have been a bit grumpy lately ☹️

Maybe it's years of climbing mountains without poles,
maybe it's menopausal joints

I've been missing the hills ⛰️💚

So, today my knees and me took poles with us to walk the coastal trail from Leenan to Dunree
(well, most of the way. 😆)

Very little gradient,
lungs full of mountain air,
stunning sea views and
a big dose of hills for the head medicine.

Now, the bees want their knees back
'cause I've got 'em!
🐝💛

Grateful thanks to North West Community Development -NWCD for developing a great trail network in inishowen, suitable for all knees.

What a wonderful place to live.

Self care is great
Community care is probably what your soul craves,
and can not be bought.

Aaand another thing...
If you're a middle aged women,
have you noticed our 'self care' is often packaged as what we do for others
"you can't pour from an empty cup"
"you're no good to anyone if you're not well"

So, the purpose of our self care is so we can keep going, and going, and going, being productive and taking care of others/ everything.

Nothing wrong with caring for others,
but you have worth,
separate to your value as a carer.

Find your tribe
be yourself
in community

Low light of winter sun
softens sharp edges
calms colour
eases minds

Nature turns down the dimmer switch
tucks us in,
and invites rest

If this time of year is bright lights, busy shops and pressure for you,

remember,
nature is wintering,
and you too, are nature

Step away from the madness,
join her
be still
settle
and sigh

if only for a while
