Some feedback some days just stop you in your tracks 🤍

This is why I do fl**ge fittings!

So many people are told they’re a “standard” size (often 24mm)… and then quietly struggle with discomfort, poor output, or just a feeling that something isn’t quite right.

The reality?
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to fl**ges.

Pumping shouldn’t hurt.
It shouldn’t feel like something you just have to “get through.”

Whether you’re exclusively pumping or only using a pump occasionally, the right fit can completely change your experience — comfort, efficiency, and confidence.

Thank you so much to this lovely client for trusting me and for taking the time to share their experience. It genuinely means the world.

Not all fl**ges are created equal… and neither are breasts 🤍

Different shapes, sizes, materials, tunnel lengths, angles — and sometimes it takes trying a few (or a lot!) to find the right fit. What you see here is just part of the process behind a fl**ge fitting appointment.

👀 How many different sizes, shapes and materials can you spot?

Every single piece is carefully cleaned and sanitised before and after each visit. It’s not the glamorous side of the work… but it matters. A lot.

Because when we get the right fit?
✨ Comfort improves
✨ Pumping becomes more effective
✨ And everything just feels that little bit easier

It’s a bit of work on my end… but absolutely worth it for every person who walks through the door.

It’s been a minute! 🐾🎂🎈
The past few weeks have been a blur of children’s birthdays, special days out, Junior internationals in canoe polo and now — because life loves a plot twist — a very unwell dog who’s been rushed to the vet today. 💔

It’s reminded me of something I see often with the families I work with: sometimes you’re juggling so much that it’s hard to even remember to eat lunch, never mind troubleshoot breastfeeding or pumping challenges.

If you’re in that season right now — tired, pulled in ten directions, and maybe a little wobbly about your feeding journey — please know: you don’t need to do it perfectly. Sometimes “done is better than perfect”. 💕

📌 Quick tip for busy days: If you’re pumping, even a shorter session is still worthwhile — it keeps milk flowing and can protect your supply until life calms down again.

So here’s to all of us doing our best, even on the messy, chaotic days.
Tell me — what’s been on your plate this week?

We’ve all done it. Middle of the night. Baby crying. Pump whirring.
And you’re elbow-deep in Google results from 2011 and a forum called “MumsInChaos”.
If you’ve ever searched:
🫠 “Why does pumping hurt”
🤯 “Should ni***es look like that?”
🥴 “How to get more than 5 drops”
You’re not alone. You’re not broken. And you’re definitely not meant to figure it all out solo.
✨ This is why The Breast Tech exists—so you don’t have to learn lactation from Reddit and tears.
📩 Book a consult. I’ll help you pump better, with way less stress.

“More suction = more milk?”
Not exactly.
Actually… not at all.”
Many people assume that turning their pump all the way up will lead to better output. But here’s the thing: pumping should never hurt.
In fact, pain can suppress letdown and make pumping less effective.
Here’s what actually matters:
💡 Finding the right suction level for your body
💡 Understanding the difference between stimulation and expression
💡 Knowing how to combine cycle speed + comfort for optimal milk removal
✨ The good news?
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
📍 I offer in-person fl**ge fitting and pump support sessions that cover everything from settings to comfort and milk flow.

📲 And tag someone who’s struggling with pumping—they don’t need to go through it in pain.

For many, this service has been the turning point in their feeding journey—from pain to comfort, from stress to clarity, from doubt to confidence.
✅ In-Person Fl**ge fitting is much more than just measuring—it’s about:
• Reducing pain and discomfort
• Understanding why things hurt
• Getting real-time, compassionate guidance
• Learning to use your pump to support your goals—whether that’s exclusive pumping or the odd bottle
🩷 This service was designed to fill a gap. And honestly? It shouldn’t have to exist—but until real support is widely available, I’m here for you.

What is an IBCLC — and why does it matter?
If you’re seeking expert, evidence-based infant feeding support, you deserve to know what those letters stand for — and why they matter.
IBCLC = International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
We are certified professionals trained in the clinical care of breastfeeding and human lactation. We work with families, health teams, and policymakers to improve public health globally — one feeding journey at a time.
Becoming an IBCLC involves:
📚 90+ hours of lactation education (incl. WHO Code + communication)
🧪 14 health science subjects or a recognised health qualification
🕐 Clinical hours via one of three formal pathways
📝 Passing a rigorous international board exam
And we don’t stop there.
To stay certified, we must recertify every 5 years with:
✅ 250+ hours of clinical practice
✅ Ongoing education and self-assessment
✅ Updated knowledge of the WHO Code, public health, and ethics
IBCLCs are the only lactation professionals held to this international standard — and we are proud to offer care that is skilled, respectful, and rooted in both science and compassion.

“Am I really breastfeeding if I’m only expressing?”
Yes! You most certainly are.

According to the World Health Organization, breastfeeding includes any amount of breastmilk — however it’s given. That means whether it’s at the breast, in a bottle, or by cup, it counts.

There are differences between direct feeding and expressing — in bonding, feedback loops, and milk transfer — but one is not “better” than the other. They’re just different tools for different needs.

🧡 Expressed milk is still powerful. Still protective. Still parenting with your whole heart.
If expressing is part of your journey (by choice or necessity), it deserves support too.

📩 Reach out if you need help with pumping, fl**ge fitting, milk supply, or just reassurance. You’re not alone — and you’re doing something amazing.
