Why Lift heavy?

More muscle means more calories burned at rest. That makes fat loss easier. Fat loss improves insulin sensitivity. Better insulin sensitivity means carbs are used for energy instead of being stored as fat. That improves body composition and boosts energy. More energy means you move more, support heart health, and improve longevity.

Strength training makes everything easier.

Biceps

1. Right after a huge meal
You’ll feel heavy, sluggish, and risk nausea or cramps. Blood is busy digesting, not fueling squats.
2. When you’re severely sleep-deprived
Poor coordination, weaker performance, higher injury risk. Training tired isn’t “grind,” it’s dumb.
3. During acute illness (fever, flu, stomach bug)
You’re not building discipline—you’re stressing an already stressed system and slowing recovery.
4. Right before bed (for most people)
Spikes adrenaline and core temperature, wrecks sleep quality. Bad trade.
5. At the end of an extremely long fast
Low glycogen + hard training = dizziness, weak output, and possible fainting.
6. When you’re emotionally wrecked or highly stressed
Training can help mild stress, but intense emotional overload kills focus and increases injury risk.
