No matter what you your pain won't go,

The tablets only help for so long...

You do core strengthing but the pain persists...

You take time of work to let it heal...

But no matter what, the pain won't go away.

𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿?

Not all back pain needs constant medication use...

Or hours in the gym strengthening or stretching.

And fairly realy is a core weak leading to back pain...

And muscle been told are week is a hole totaly different argument that I wont go in to today 😑

So why are you still in pain??

It's because you haven't fount the root cause...

Your treating the wrong issue...

Or the main compensation hasn't been resolved.

Today I was talking to a client who was in with me over a year ago.

He had crippling back pain for years...

stopped playing golf because pain had got so bad...

life became a prison and work was a struggle everyday.

He done everthying of the above, gym exercises, time of work, pain killers, stoped golfing and two plus years of resting and stretching.

Last year he ended up infront me worse than before.

"If you just get the pain down to a point of being bearable that I can work ill live without golf".

𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩, 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙗𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.

What we found in his case he had a facilitated back muscle over working for core muscle... Core muscle not weak.

We found he had an issue with SIJ [joint in pelvis] that when rotating and inflamed can lead to pain, especially in golf swing.

After a couple of sessions he was back to playing golf, more range of movement and enjoying life again.

Today he rang me to tell me he had a friend that needed help and that he was flying again.

Your lifting something and bang!

Your back tightens up,

You get a fright and panic...

"Somthing is out on my back"

"A disc has slipped"

In real panic, your afraid to move...

you slowly move to sit down

but can't relax...

so move and lean against a wall or lie in bed...

Your trembling with fear 😨

"What will I do"

"Do I need surgery"

"this is it I'm on the same road as my dad or mum or whoever you seen in pain for years"

I aee this on a daily basis when clients come in with pain...

All I hear is:

"Jay, I dont know what to do"

"if I move am I doing more harm and damage"

"Am i doing more harm not moving"

"I really don't know what to do"

Here I am in new york.. (See pic below)

Just a few days before I was in bed in pain...

Sciatica throbbing in my calf,

My muscles twitching with spasms,

and my toes tingling with pins and needles...

I was on pain killers and difene and my mind wondering with all sorts or thoughts...

After I got the pain and throbbing down I started moving gingerly...

I move a small bit and then stop and rest...

As the days went on I started to feel better with less pain...

my mind wondering less with negative thoughts..

After some stretching, back exercises muscle release and nerve work I felt better...

Not 100%, but a lot better.

I boarded the flight and had the best week of my life after years of planning...

That nearly was disrupted.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱.

And this is where a lot of pain gets worse because the fear that comes with it.

Look, I understand I fell into it but once I got the pain down I was able to speed it up...

and I've done it with hundreds like me get back to normal...

A few weeks ago I was lying in bed with shooting pain down my leg,

Mind racing with questions, "what damaged have I done now to my disk"...

But what was worse, this happened a week before I was due to be going to new york...

Months of planning and preparing for a dream trip to a place I always wanted to go...

and here I am, lying in bed, sciatica shooting up and down my.leg.

My calf throbbing.

"How could this happen to me now"

"Why me"

"Will this get better in time"

Me of all people who has helped thosands over the years overcome back and sciatica...

Helped people back to normal and in some cases avoid surgery.

and yet I'm in this sitation now...

After first night of twisting and turning I done some gentle moving...

Some light exercises,

and focus on inflammation and pain tolerance...

Three days later, I was moving better but still in discomfort...

my mind racing with questions...

"will I make it on plane"

"If I do, what if it happens again"

I kept thinking...

I kept going, and every day I felt better but not 100%

Thankfully the pain didn't bother me much and I made it to the flight...

But the little voice in my head would come back again to remind me...

And I'll get moving, gentle exercise, doing things to.help and reduce the tension in my back and leg.

In the end, the trip went brilliantly, enjoyed every bit of it...

But a week before the back and anxiety of sciatica threatened to ruin it for me.

But just to show, with a bit of movement, to pain range, adjusting to let inflammation down and feel better in time to walk brooklyn bridge [pic]

It help get me better quickly and actually enjoy the week away.

First up Gavin who had developed some neck and arm pain relating to nerve that he was feeling in his fingers. After doing a history and an assessment he had a postusl issue with other muscle complaints.

After releasing and helping with postual he sent this review last night feeling a lot better.

Next up was Alex with a shin splint complaint that was affecting him playing football. After seeing, assessing muscle and joint issues, biomechanics and gait we came across a few patterns and corrected.

He left a review feeling much better after his game yesterday, much improved.

𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁...

Just received this feedback today...

Cllient came in with neck and shoulder pain...

She couldn't lift her arm, and pain was getting worse...

In a panick she went for scans on her neck and shoulder...

After getting the all clear, she came into me...

still struggle to lift her arm, and guarding it because pain was worse when moving...

After a few tests and treatment she was able to lift it a lot better but still in pain.

We assigned homecare plan to work on...

First step was to address inflammation, pain and movement...

Then certain Strength work with other exercises.

And this was her feedback today...

A lot better and big improvment.

𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙛𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠...

A recent client said to me...

I've tried gels, ice, stretches, core exercises, e.g

I've tried moving, tried resting, tried different treatments but noting works.

MRI says nothing wrong with my back, but I am in pain all the time.

my answer to this is first we need to get the sensitivity and pain down,

After this subsides we then need to find out what's causing the pain,

Once this is discovered then we can help and treat...

Now everyone is different, different healing, recovery and length of pain so times needs to be allowed for certain cases...

But when your body is aching and sore then it's telling you it needs a bit of help.

So just moving without aggertating pain is your best start and your base to start.

I seen this on Google but its not working..

Have you guessed what this is yet?

STRETCHING!!!

And you know it's one of the worse things making your pain worse...

Why, I hear you ask,

Cause its stretching a muscle in your bum that more than likely is not the cause of your pain...

Yes, it feels tight in that hip and bum...

Yes it seems like the cause of pain...

But guess what, it aint the root cause...

think about it...

Doe's stretching a muscle really relieve the pins and needles...

improve your night sleep,

Or help improve when your driving?

Nope that's likely a back issue in them cases not a hip issue you keep stretching...

So before you stretch next time think about how worse your making your pain

And not getting to the cause of pain....

𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼...

First thing is find what's aggregating the pain and avoid or adjust to avoid making worse.. Example desk jobs or sitting for long periods.

Second, if there is an postural issue targeting certain exercises will help realign the spine which helps relief the pressure on nerve...

Three, getting a good strong core strength that incorporates flexibility and and rotation is vital to help with spine health.... Dead bugs and Russian twists but only at a certain stage when coming back from pain...

If you do these three things well you will notice improved symptoms in days to weeks...

Niall came in recently with pain in his glute and leg.

He was having issues with his training and running became difficult 🏃‍♀️

After his first session he felt improvement in leg symptoms and back pain...

1 - Your stretching the wrong muscles

Stretching isn't always the solution to sciatica pain and a assessment and tests will be able to provide the right treatment.

2 - Finding what is causing the nerve to be irritated like intense stretching or deep tissue massage can make things worse...

3- What your doing lifestyle wise needs to be changed or it will keep getting worse.
