✨May Hypnobirthing Course date changed to 30th and 31st ✨.

Today is World Hypnobirthing day 👶❤️.

A day to celebrate the power of hypnobirthing helping you to achieve a calm confident and positive birth.

Hypnobirthing is all about embracing birth with confidence and letting go of the fear associated with childbirth. It is empowering and very educational - giving you all of the tools essential for your birth no matter what the circumstances.
It’s so beneficial and has completely given me the skills I wish I had years ago!!

✨ The Blessing of St. Brigid’s Cloak ✨

As the eve of St. Brigid’s Day approaches, a beautiful tradition comes alive—one deeply rooted in healing, protection, and the sacred work of midwives.

According to legend, if you leave a shawl or cloth outside on the night of January 31st, St. Brigid will bless it as she passes by. By morning, the fabric is believed to hold healing powers, offering protection to those who use it—especially midwives, mothers, and newborns.

St. Brigid is known as the patroness of midwives, healers, and new life. She represents strength, wisdom, and compassion, guiding those who bring life into the world. The tradition of leaving out a shawl is more than folklore; it is a quiet prayer, a connection to the past, and a blessing for the future.

For those who dedicate their lives to birth and healing, this is a sacred night. Will you leave a shawl out tonight? Mine is ❤️

Receiving photos from families I care for as the years go by with little updates is a beautiful reminder of why I love my job.

I had the honour of welcoming this sweet soul into the world at home, in the warmth of his family’s embrace 5 years ago. Honestly it feels like 5 months - gorgeous memories of a really positive birth.

Homebirth midwifery isn’t just about catching babies; it can also build connections that last far beyond the first few weeks.

Here’s to this little one’s newest trip around the sun—and to all the families who let me be a part of their most sacred moments. 🌻

Saying goodbye to this little fella was so bittersweet today - I wasn’t ready to say goodbye . I loved looking after his family as repeat clients throughout the homebirth process.

This pregnancy involved a bit of a hoop jumping but my goodness it was so worth following along with the policy demands in the end.
This little man had the most amazing birth - incredibly calm and really worth sticking to the homebirth, hypnobirthing plan. I was so privileged to look after his determined Mum who I will always be in awe of 🥰🥰.

It’s been a while since I posted so I m going to do some catching up….
I m so incredibly grateful for the journey I get to share with the families I care for . 💫
Being a homebirth midwife is such an honour, and there’s something extra special about returning to help a family welcome a new little baby.

I received the sweetest gift—a card from two little sisters whose births I attended as their midwife……a keepsake I’ll treasure forever. 💌
I thought there might have been a bit of mess involved alright 😅😂😂
These moments are what it’s all about🥰🥰🥰

What an honour it was to attend Mrs Sabina Higgins Latching on event this morning in the Aras to mark the beginning of Breastfeeding week❤️

What made it really special was being there with three of my Homebirth clients and ‘my’ babies Theo, Lily-Rose and Jeremi representing the HSE Homebirth Service.

As a service we have the highest exclusively breastfeeding rates in the country 96-98% and it’s definitely because of continuity of carer and the determination of clients within our service.

A very proud day - had to pinch myself

✨Heartfelt Gratitude ✨

I’m overjoyed and deeply grateful to have received such wonderful feedback from Sinead expecting her third baby! 🌸 It’s truly an honor to have been part of her journey through my hypnobirthing and full birth preparation course.

Hearing how my course has positively impacted her experience reaffirms my passion for what I do. 🥰

The course is a complete birth pregnancy and hypnobirthing experience to prepare for any type of birth and it doesn’t matter what number baby you are having it will still make a big difference.

Places available for courses in June (28th and 29th) and August… birthtobasics.com😀

✨What a spectacular natural light show✨

A magical night in my own back garden! Caught a glimpse of the mesmerizing Northern Lights dancing across the sky. Nature never fails to amaze me …Feeling grateful for these breathtaking moments! 🌌
My daughter went to Iceland in February on a school trip but she didn’t see the when she was there so to be out in the garden watching them was a bit ironic to say the least!

✨Welcome Baby Jack✨

It was an absolute privilege to look after Lucia and her family for the 3rd time and welcome baby Jack in his home.🥰

I m so grateful to Lucia for sharing her photos and showing how amazing homebirth really is.🥰.

Baby Jack had a calm, gentle ,waterbirth with his really excited big brother and sister meeting him very soon after his birth.

Lucia used the water , hypnobirthing techniques and her winnerflow device throughout her labour and found these tools incredibly helpful.
