# # # ⚠️ **Important Community Safety Notice – Fireworks in the Park/ Community Centre campus** ⚠️
As Halloween approaches, we want to remind everyone that setting off fireworks in the community centre/ Gaine park and GAA areas is both dangerous, illegal and banned.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in unsupervised teenagers lighting fireworks in the area during the Halloween period.
Last year’s incidents involved reckless behaviour that could easily have led to serious personal injury, damage to cars or property or worse.
Over €100,000 has been invested over the last number of years in the park between Ait Ciùin, seating and playground equipment.
We’ve been very lucky so far that no major damage has occurred and more importantly that no one has been maimed or injured 🤞🤞🤞
We’re imploring parents and guardians to
1. speak to their young people about the real dangers of fireworks
2. Remind them that fireworks are illegal and are strictly not permissible in the Park/ Centre/ GAA area.
3. keep an eye out for any unsafe activity in or around the park.
The safety of our community, our children, and our public spaces must come first.
