Lili is still watching over Zeus—no longer from the highest shelf, but from heaven. 😇🪽 They spent their lives bickering, rarely more than neutral with each other, yet now that she’s gone, he misses her. He still checks her old sleeping spots, hoping to find her. Sometimes he’s convinced she’s in Nona’s room; he races upstairs, barks at the door, pounces, and bursts in as if he’ll finally catch her—only to be confused when she isn’t there. I feel Lili’s spirit around us often, and I think he must feel her too.
This is our first Christmas without her, and her absence is woven into everything we do.

How do you honour or remember a beloved pet who has crossed over, especially during the holidays?

In real life, the danger isn’t always a speeding bus — it’s the invisible weight of trauma passed down through generations.

Cycles of pain, silence, and survival can feel unstoppable, like a force barreling forward. And yet, just like in the movies, one person stepping in can change everything.

Don’t wait for a hero to magically appear. Be the one who stands in the gap. Be the one who says, “It stops here.”

Healing isn’t easy. It takes courage to face what was hidden, to rewrite the story, to protect the next generation from carrying wounds that were never theirs to bear. But every act of awareness, every choice to break the pattern, is a hand held out to the future.

The next generation — deserves safety, love, and freedom. And you have the power to make sure they receive it.
