I just visited with a woman who is 100 years old and I walked in the room and I said “hello,” and she smiled. I asked her what the best part of her day was. She told me it was me coming to see her because the worst thing she could imagine is being forgotten.

This really touched me, and reminded me about every person lying in a bed, waiting for someone to walk through their door. Some people have the luxury of lots of family and friends, visiting often, but many do not.

I asked if I could sit down with her, and she said that she would like that. I asked if I could hold her hand, she said. “Yes please.”

Most of the conversation was about the weather, and the holidays coming up, but one of the things that really stuck with me, was the way she looked at me. Her eyes were so bright blue, and her smile was big and I asked her, “why are you smiling so big right now?” And she said. “because you are sitting with me and holding my hand.”

This made my whole day. I want to do more of this. And I want to encourage you to do the same. There are a lot of hands out there that could really benefit from yours holding them.

A very constructive approach to challenges and stress that I heard from another therapist today.

His thinking is to alter, adjust avoid.

I came home to 4 cows in my garden, and it was quite an eventful couple of hours. 😂🐄
I really could have done with remembering this earlier in the evening 😅

It's certainly something to take on board. 💚
