Nourishing our Yin is so important to help mitigate the stress of our overscheduled, busy lives. It helps bring a sense of peace and that 'all will be well'.

Some tips to help nourish Yin are:
✅Spending time with loved ones - Yin loves 'the chats'
✅Getting enough rest - doing nothing is allowed!
✅Limiting screen time - too much screen time really disturbs our peace
✅spending time in nature - we are programmed to find peace in the natural world
✅Relaxation work - whatever helps you relax, will nourish your Yin
✅Movement with mindfulness - helps get out of our head and find some peace
✅Listening to your favourite music - who doesn't feel better after listening to their favourite tunes!
✅Avoiding stimulants

Acupuncture has a wide application in terms of what conditions it can help with. Most commonly it is used to help reduce/eliminate pain, but there are many other conditions it can help with too.

Oftentimes we see people in the clinic who have exhausted many other options in terms of trying to find help for their symptoms and acupuncture and Chinese herbs can be very useful in these cases.

Today is mental health awareness day and a good time to check in with ourselves to see how our mental and emotional health is doing.

Are we happy, sad, frustrated, irritable, angry, anxious, overwhelmed, stressed out, finding it difficult to cope, fearful, the list can go on. Notice, however that this list is mostly on the 'negative' scale of emotions. So if you identify with the emotions on this list more often than not, perhaps it is time to invest a little in your mental health?

Excluding serious mental health issues, which should be managed under the care of a mental health practitioner, looking at seeking to balance your mental health can be a helpful approach to feeling better mentally. Some areas to look at, can be:

✅Good nutrition
✅Getting enough quality sleep
✅Getting adequate exercise
✅Getting enough downtime
✅Engaging in activities that you enjoy
✅Spending time with people that you love
✅Creating healthy boundaries around work, free time, relationships
✅Spending some time just doing nothing

If some of this seems overwhelming and you don't even know where to start, just start with one thing and after a while include the next thing and so on, until healthy habits just become the norm.

If you feel you need extra support, why not consider acupuncture? It can help move 'stuck' Qi, helping us remove barriers, free up our emotions and help us think and experience life more freely. Staying balanced both mentally and physically in our fast-paced modern world can be a real challenge. In Chinese Medicine we don't separate the mental, physical and spiritual, as they are all interconnected.

Creating overall balance is important and minding our mental, physical and spiritual health does take effort. Picking one thing to support each can be a good place to start and investing in these activities can be a good way to store up the energies that these create, so that when we get knocked in life (which invariably happens) we can bounce back easier and we are not coming from a baseline of depletion.

How have you been supporting yourself recently? If you feel out of balance, why not consider how Chinese Medicine can help you? Appointments available at: 087 4690565 or wellpointacupuncture@outlook.com

Yep, you guessed it - food stagnation is eating too much! Something we are all guilty of from time to time. However, when it is a pattern carried out over a long period of time, it can create some very unpleasant symptoms such as: heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, bloating, to name a few.

It can also be caused by eating late at night, eating while under pressure or eating damp, greasy food on a regular basis. Eventually the food just sits in your stomach undigested, which exacerbates the problem and what was acute is now chronic.

How to tackle it? Well we have herbal formulas that can help (with a correct tcm diagnosis) and acupuncture. Making conscious changes to your diet and lifestyle is necessary, as with any health problem, so that you start to feel better and your overall health improves.

If you are suffering from digestive problems or uncomfortable digestive symptoms, why not consider Chinese Herbs or acupuncture? You can get further information by calling: 087 4690565 or e-mailing: wellpointacupuncture@outlook.com

In the theory of Five Elements, Autumn is the season of the lungs and it is important to make sure that you are looking after your lung qi and health.

In Chinese medicine Qi can be described as 'Vital Energy' or loosely translated as what we know to be oxygen. Similarly to the heart, the lung do a vital job in breathing in and out oxygen, which helps pump blood around the body and oxygenates all of our vital organs.
The lungs can be compromised, through shallow breathing, poor posture, lack of exercise and mood alternations such as depression, anxiety and most importantly grief or sadness, which are the emotions most closely related to the lungs.

The lungs of course, are acutely linked with respiratory illness, which is common at the change in seasons and moving deeper into Autumn.

Now can be a good time to either start a course of acupuncture or get a tune up treatment to help increase energy, move blood and qi and get ready, as the weather starts to get colder.
