⚙️ What HBOT Actually Does
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing 100% oxygen at elevated atmospheric pressure
This dramatically increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in plasma, which can:
• Promote angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation)
• Enhance collagen synthesis and fibroblast activity
• Improve leukocyte function (infection resistance)
• Reduce edema and inflammation
• Help salvage ischemic tissue (areas with poor blood supply)
While not every patient needs HBOT, surgeons and studies have reported:
• Faster recovery times (by 20–40%)
• Reduced postoperative swelling and bruising
• Lower risk of skin necrosis or wound dehiscence, especially after facelifts or abdominoplasties
• Improved scar appearance and quality
• Better flap or graft survival in reconstructive or combination surgeries
❗️❗️❗️ Always inform your surgeon about using HBOT and make sure staff is fully trained and using proper procedures and equipment
