An unfortunate broken collarbone for one of the players at the weekend for

Impact from the side in a shoulder to shoulder hit was the method of injury on this one and having broken it before the player new exactly what happened when he hit the deck.

No surgery needed so far, so if it stays as is it’ll be a quick few weeks recovery and hopefully back to the form he was in on the pitch 💪🏻

A previous client advised to get an MRI, and this was the result 😅

A nice example of a herniated/bulging disc and the effect it can have on compressing nerves and aggravating tissue around the bulge itself 🤢

🥈 Second place in the Valentia 10km 🏃🏻‍♂️(Pulled out of the half due to the hammy acting up)

Very tough race, windy by the sea (picture 4 😂) and 4km long hill at the start of the race zapped me with a niggly hamstring all week 🥵 But all considering I’m delighted with the race and definitely the pace for a race like that! Felt good!

I’ll be more prepared for the hills and wind next year 😂

Great morning on my weekend away 😉

Great to have and player in for a recovery session and check up tonight ahead of the Monaghan game on Sunday!

Staying on top of niggles, nutrition and recovery is a huge part of the game at this time of the year with heavy ground and games coming thick and fast. Best of luck at the weekend to and hopefully a win can round off a nice St.Patrick’s weekend 🇮🇪☘️ ⚪️

👎🏻 In the “Before” - Restricted overhead movement and shoulder impingements, with poor range of motion and strength in the left latissimus dorsi muscle (Lats)

👍🏻In the “After” - The Lats were released off and brought back to normal length with some deep tissue work, dynamic cupping and Graston tool work, and the results were a reduction in impingement pain, a powerful latissimus dorsi contraction, a huge increase in range of motion and a much happier shoulder joint leaving 🤝

One of this weekends injuries was a young GAA player that rolled his ankle, landing after catching a ball ⚽️

🙌🏻 X ray came back clear but a lot of damage done to the lateral ligaments of the ankle as well as compression and stress to the deltoid ligament on the inside of ankle.

😓 Very lucky to not have had a worse outcome but unlucky enough to probably keep him out of action for a couple of weeks.

✅ Rehab starts straight away after a good session on the table today, and prehab over the winter will lower the chances of it reoccurring next year! 💪🏻

😀WE’RE BACK IN ACTION😀

Hi everyone,

Now that things are starting to return to normal, I’ll be opening the clinic again from next Friday (28th May), so get in touch if you need a booking!

The clinic will obviously be following strict government guidelines and masks must be worn before, during and after every session! Sanitiser will be at the door before entering and on exit and a gap will be left between clients for a full clean of all equipment to maximise safety for everyone!

And finally, a big thank you for your patience over the past few months and I can’t wait to have the craic again in the clinic as we try to keep everyone pain free and happy 🤜🏻🤛🏻

📸 Overactive groin muscles on the left, happier, more relaxed groin muscles on the right📸

🛑Stop jumping into heavy training without some sort of conditioning to prepare the body first🛑

GAA typical off season in my opinion:

🏃🏻‍♂️ Straight line road running (Great for health and fitness, not sport specific)

💪🏻Bodybuilding Split style gym sessions (Great for overall strength, health and fitness but again not sport specific or injury preventive)

🍱 Increased calories and less work load over Christmas period (more demand on the body come January if weight isn’t gained correctly)

🚨Very little explosive work

🥴Very little pitch/grass specific training

📚If your hampered with injuries/tightness in the return to preseason, try changing up your off season training and prepare correctly, your body will thank you and perform better 🤷🏼‍♂️

🦵 HIP, KNEE AND ANKLE PAIN🦵

📸 In the picture, the difference in leg length is marked by the black dot on the inside ankle bone (Medial Malleolus 🦴)

😖Before: The lower back and glute muscles were extremely tight and a hip hike was causing an off balance weight shift leading to pain down the right side

😀After: Deep tissue massage and soft tissue release to the effected muscle brought leg length more neutral and dispersed the weight more evenly over both feet, relieving pain down through the hip, knee and ankle.

💪🏻 A rehab plan was sent to the client to help get more mobility through the hips and to start activating some opposing muscle’s in order to maintain a neutral position.

🏃🏻‍♂️Lactate Threshold Test we did the other day as part of a demonstration for an ongoing Physical Trainers Supervisor Course in the Defence Forces Physical Education School where I’m based 🏃🏻‍♂️

📚 Really enjoyable day learning the benefits of dialling in your training to small margins, and with these results I hope to push on in 2021 with my own training and hit some new goals 💪🏻
