I'm just out of my "4th Trimester" on baby boy number 3 now - & starting to feel more human. (Though it's all temporary in the first year π
).
Firstly, I'm sorry if this post upsets anyone. I know pregnancy can be really triggering. We had 2 losses on our journey to our family, so I know how awful that can be.
Secondly- I am not a women's health physio! We are really well served with women's health physios here in Kildare, DM if you're looking for one, I'll point you in the right direction π.
I have a huge interest in Women's Health, I'm definitely a pregnancy/birth nerd. I loved researching it allπ€. These are the things I found helpful when pregnant ( in no particular order):
Gentlebirth book & app. The book gets you mentally prepared for what's ahead. It teaches us how capable we are as women, if we can tune out of the normal nervousness that comes with pregnancy, & tune into ourselves. The app is great for both guided meditation, & a nap if you can get one! I got it at about 20 weeks.
Aoife here in Kildare. She is amazing. Her pregnancy yoga was brilliant for movement and relaxation. Her birth- prep workshop was also brilliant- a really chilled out way for women and their partners to learn about what's ahead in a very relaxed environment, but all evidence based. I took the workbook into the labour ward with me to help remember all the tips- it was that good !
Pregnancy Prehab App from . Full disclosure here, Emma is a friend of mine in NZ.She used me as a guinea pig to test the app during my last pregnancy. But it is brilliant! Short , easy videos covering what happens to our bodies during pregnancy and in the post-partum period, how to prepare for labour and birth, and post partum.
I breastfed each of the boys ( I'm still feeding the littlest man). I did colostrum harvesting in the last few weeks of pregnancy, and found it really helpful. .ie has lots of good info and advice on this, and I got a colostrum harvesting pack from her.
