123, Rhymes for You and Me

This page is set up and managed by the West Limerick Primary Health Care Project for Travellers, West Limerick Resources - and we are promoting nursery rhymes with parents and caregivers of children aged 0-5 years in West Limerick. ery rhymes in the book were chosen by members of the Traveller community in Limerick City and County and most of us are mothers ourselves. There are 8 nursery rhymes because research has found that if your child knows 8 nursery rhymes by heart by the time they are 4 years old, they will be better readers by the time they are 8 years old. We selected 8 nursery rhymes that we felt most people would be familiar with. We had great fun deciding which ones to include. We wanted something that takes into account Traveller values and culture and we feel that the drawings in the book show these. You will see drawings of horses, family, being outdoors, faith and home. We felt these needed to be shown in a positive light and the end result is something we are all very proud of. We'd love to hear what you think!!!
