The practice marks an important milestone on 19th August 2024, when it is officially 35 years old.
The journey began on Scarteen Street, moved to High Street and came to the Primary Care Centre at West End in March 2020.
We are grateful for our staff, some of whom have been on the vast majority of the journey, for your loyalty, dedication and the pleasure of working with you.
We would also like to thank our patients, who make our job worthwhile.
The commitment to teaching, in particular to the undergraduates of University College Cork, has stimulated the practice to engage with evidence-based practice. Our involvement with the Southwest GP Training Programme has also allowed us to influence the development of future General Practice.
There are new challenges in healthcare, which did not exist 35 years ago. Together, we can address these challenges. There is a huge evidence base which supports helping people live healthily through their lives without the need for overmedicalisation of their health.
The practice is committing, for the coming year, to the theme of “Enablement”, working with patients to identify their health challenges, and signposting the appropriate ways of addressing these. Thus, there will be a monthly health promotion initiative, beginning with Vaccines. In tandem with the HSE, literature and web resources will be identified for promoting various areas of health.
