It was back to basics this week after our crazy busy week last week. It was a much slower paced, more relaxed week which we all needed. We had mass and prayers with the Legion of Mary, exercise class with Karen our physiotherapist, games, little bit of cooking, sensory sessions themed around the beach, lots of singing and dancing and of course we are looking forward to shouting on the Irish ladies tomorrow 🇮🇪 ☘️ 🍀 ☘️

Taking this opportunity to say well done to two of our young colleagues, Hannah and Amy, who both secured the courses they were hoping for in the CAO first round offers this morning. Two lovely young ladies who are both going to go so far in their different chosen career paths. Both are a credit to themselves and their families and all the team here are thrilled for them. Well done ladies, ye have all our best wishes and more for the future. All the candles we lit are turning up trumps! Well done to all who received what they were hoping for and to those that didn’t, don’t sweat it. Great things are waiting for you too ❤️

A very happy birthday to a special lady today…. Joan! Joan is the definition of an absolute lady, she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Her love for life and for having fun is clear for all to see. Her smile lights up every room she enters and she is always in good form and up for a song or a dance. Joan is such a special friend to all, she is kind to all around her and is loved by all who have the pleasure of knowing her and caring for her. Joan, we hope you had the best day celebrating your birthday with all your family and friends. We look forward to many more days like these to come ❤️ 🎂

And that’s a wrap….. over and out from nursing homes week 2025!!! We have had an amazing week jam packed with days out, in house activities and family events! There have been so many highlights this week, so many new memories made and lots of days to remember!! So many thank yous to get through but that’s for another day. The raffle winners were all announced today and Beth is in the process of contacting everyone. We will publish the results here tomorrow! Day 7 of nursing homes week included a big Irish fry up for breakfast, a beautiful mass celebrated by Fr. Liam and Fr. Tom, delicious Baileys coffees and finished up with the raffle. Residents (and staff 😅) are exhausted now and look forward to a break tomorrow where the pace will slow down and we will enjoy getting back to normal over the coming days. A big thank you to all our residents, their families and all who attended our various events… it has been such a fun week. Thank you to all our prize sponsors who we will post about tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who helped out at the various events and gave so freely of their time! Ye are wonderful people. And a special word of thanks to the staff… the team that bring it all together. Simply the best 👌
until next year….. ❤️

Apologies for extremely late post 🥲
What can we say about day 6…. Only WOW!! nursing homes week has been all about a taste of home, which we believe can mean our culture and identity as well as our food. What’s more Irish than Irish Dancing and Irish traditional music? We were blown away by Pauline Hynan and her wonderful dancers who danced various sets, reels and jigs. All our residents love to see the really small kids dancing, it brings huge smiles to their faces. These girls are so talented and will go places in time.
The girls were followed by the amazingly talented members from Craobh Pheig Uí Riain Ccé who absolutely stole the show with their individual and collective talents. Each and everyone of them oozed class and the sound was just amazing. A special mention to Michael Smyth who won 3 all Ireland medals at Fleadh ceoil u12 playing the Uilleann pipes… this boy is setting down a big marker for his peers to follow and we are sure they will!! And of course our wonderful Peig was thrilled to see so many musicians in the one room… she said it was the best session she had been to in a long time - now there’s a compliment! Well done everyone.
Residents have been working hard on a little booklet called “a taste of home” which is now printed and available to take away. The basket is in our front porch! Enjoy the read ☕️ ☕️

Over and out from our 3rd annual Community concert and what a success it was… there are so many people to be thanked for it’s success. To Michael Ryan our brilliant MC who was fun, light hearted and thoroughly entertaining. To John on sound and Breda and Anne in Blasta for all their help. To Michael, the caretaker of the hall. To our many wonderful acts which brought the house down… thank you. It is so hard to get up on stage in front of people and do what you all did… each and everyone of you were amazing. Hours of practice and so much talent, it was so lovely to see so many young people taking part. Thanks to all our wonderful residents and their families for coming and to the people of Pallasgreen who came out to support us. It has been a wonderful memorable day for all. And of course the biggest thank you to the wonderful team here… those who came to the concert and to those who kept the house safe at home… we couldn’t do this without your hard work and dedication to our residents 👏👏

Wow what a day 4 we have had of nursing homes week 2025… this morning some of the ladies headed off to Bunratty with Trish and Rachael. They had a fabulous time and met some old friends. They enjoyed a song and a dance and were taken back to the old days visiting the school and church. A wonderful morning out. A big thank you to Scarlett, Anna and Mollie Mae for their help today… was much appreciated.
Mike Moore brought his vintage tractors over for not one but two demonstrations of baling hay from the old days. To say our residents loved this would be an understatement. A big thank you to Mike and his daughter Mollie, for giving so freely of their time to bring smiles to all our faces and to evoke all the memories of times gone by.
To end day 4, we enjoyed our “ Taste of home” buffet which was simply amazing. A huge well done to all staff who cooked and baked and brought a sense of their homes to our home. What a talented bunch you all are. The food was absolutely delicious. Well done everyone… what a day!!!!
