I had the pleasure of speaking with two amazing and inspirational women on the Health and Fitness Show on Midlands 103 on Friday.
I spoke with Eimear Mathews who recently competed in the Cork Ironman. We had a great discussion about her training, nutrition and preparation in the year leading in to the event, and her strategy for the day. But it was 29 degrees on the day so all did not go to plan! Eimear talks honestly about adjusting to this unforeseen additional stress, the importance of support from her family and Trilogy Triathlon Club - Laois, being a role model for her children, and encouraging women to get out there and go after what they want in life. Well done to you Eimear!
I spoke with Tracey Percy who had a big impact on me in the brief conversation we had about being inclusive in physical activities and sports. Tracey is visually impaired, as are her three wonderful children. Her husband is completely blind. Tracey is involved with Special Olympics Ireland in and Vision Impaired Ireland. She is such a fantastic role model and she has done everything to offer the world to her children who have achieved amazing things in life and in sport. Tracey talked about some of the barriers she has had to overcome, but the strongest message she gives is about the ability that we all have and how important it is that we can access the right support. We (EduFit) are delighted to say that will be working with Tracey in the coming weeks to see how we can do better and be better regarding inclusiveness in our physical activity and health opportunities. Thanks so much Tracey for sharing your story.
If you missed the show you can listen back here. Thanks so much to everyone for tuning in and for all of your well wishes for the show.
