Foot problems - fungal infection👣🍄🤓

I noticed that many of us don't pay much attention to the condition of our feet. Maybe it is because the feet are often hidden in socks and shoes or because they are just too far from the eyes😉 It might be difficult to bend down to the feet or to bring them closer to the face to check the skin and toenails condition...not everyone is flexible🤸‍♀️😊🤸 In my reflexology practice I encounter various foot problems, but most often it is scaly, peeling or cracked skin between the toes accompanied by a rather unpleasant smell. This skin condition may indicate a beginning of a fungal infection commonly known as athlete's foot. In this post, I want to mention the risk factors that can lead to fungal infection and how to prevent them.
Remember fungi like a warm and humid environment.

- if your feet sweat excessively let them air out as much as possible, change your socks regularly especially if you feel damp, try to wear cotton rather than synthetic socks or you can try moisture-wicking socks which are made with special fibers to absorb wetness leaving your feet dry and more comfortable

- if you frequently wear enclosed footwear try to have an alternate pair of shoes, use them from day to day what gives your shoes time to dry after each use

- wash your feet daily with warm, soapy water, rinse and dry your feet, especially between the toes, you can also apply a medicated foot powder if you are prone to athlete's foot

- protect your feet in public areas and try not to walk barefoot where the infection can spread: locker rooms, saunas, swimming pools, communal baths and showers

- try not to share shoes, clothes, towels, bed linens, mats, or rugs with someone who has a fungal infection

You can find a lot of articles about this ailment on the Internet, its symptoms, causes, risk factors, complications, and of course prevention.
If you are worried about the condition of your feet, I encourage you to consult a specialist.

Today, in a few words, I want to tell you how I perform a reflexology session😊

I mainly carry out the treatment on the feet👣 Only occasionally and under some circumstances, I can do hand reflexology👐 If this is your first reflexology session with me I will ask you to complete a client consultation form. Then I invite you to sit comfortably on my reflexology chair and I cover you with a blanket so you don't get cold during the session. My reflexology chair is a reclining chair that is heated in the back and feet area...all for your comfort and better relaxation🤗 Then I clean your feet with hot towels and using a few massage techniques I try to relax your feet and check their flexibility. The next step is the focal point of the session...reflexology. I start the treatment with your left foot while your right foot rests covered with a warm towel. When I finish working on your left foot I swap sides. In the end, I perform a short foot massage with organic reflexology balm or cream. After it, I wipe your feet with white tissues and I can warm up your socks🧦 to make you feel even more pampered.
The duration of the entire session is approximately one hour.
If you consider a reflexology treatment but you suspect a fungal infection or verrucae on your feet, I suggest you consult a doctor first.
I wish you happy feet😄👣

Foot Problems👣🤓

In a few words, I want to tell you about warts of the feet called verrucas (or verrucae).

Verrucas are most commonly found on the soles of the feet or around the toe area.
Verrucas are small lumps on the skin and have tiny black dots under the hard skin these are the verrucas blood vessels, if damaged the verrucas will bleed.
Verrucas are caused by the virus Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). The virus thrives in wet and damp environments, such as swimming pool floors, communal changing areas, and showers.
Verrucas can clear spontaneously without any treatment, however, they can also be persistent for years. For some people, they can be very painful and cause discomfort especially while walking.
Verrucas are highly contagious and can be spread to the other areas of your skin if scratched, picked, or knocked.

If you consider a reflexology treatment but suspect verrucas on your feet I suggest you consult with your GP or podiatrist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment to avoid spreading warts during a reflexology session.

I wish you healthy feet😊👣
