Our Story
Hello and thanks for dropping by my page. My name is Deirdre and I’ve been working in the area of Nutrition and Mindfulness for around 8 years. Early on in my practice I realised how mindfulness could greatly help my clients to manage their weight struggles and I trained in Mindful Eating. I have been running one day workshops and retreats in this area for many years. I also run Mindfulness retreats, Serenity Sunday Urban retreats, womens circles and collaborate with a variety of practitioners.
MINDFUL EATING Many of our food and weight issues aren’t just about what we’re eating, but why we’re eating in the first place. If we’re not eating to satisfy hunger than why are we eating? Are we eating in response to other triggers, perhaps the time of day, appetising food, boredom, loneliness or stress? Is food meeting other needs for us? Is that why we can eat too much and still not feel satisfied? Could this be the reason why so many people are struggling with their weight? Could this be the reason why diets frequently just don’t seem to work? Would you like to develop a healthier relationship to food? Mindful Eating can help us to: *Finally understand why diets don’t always work for many of us. *Discover simple yet powerful tools for knowing when, what, and how much to eat *Find out how to eat the foods you love without guilt – and without bingeing *Stop obsessing about your weight, eating and food and free yourself to live the life you deserve *Learn to develop kindness, and compassion towards ourselves and our bodies. * Nourish your mind, body and spirit and boost your health, energy, and joy Mindful eating draws substantially on the use of mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness helps bring our attention and awareness to the present moment, which in turn, helps us disengage from habitual and unsatisfying habits and behaviors. Engaging in mindful eating practices on a regular basis can help us discover a far more satisfying relationship to food. NUTRITION I carry out individual Holistic Nutrition consultations in my clinic in Ranelagh. I treat the person holistically, concentrating on treating the mind and body, through the use of diet, supplements and lifestyle. Holistic Nutrition uses various combinations of food and nutrients to help individuals achieve optimal physical, mental and spiritual health. What we eat has a direct influence on our health. It sounds so basic, but people are just beginning to make this connection. Nutrition is the basis of health and therefore so important to our overall wellbeing.
