Wicklow County Childcare

Wicklow County Childcare Supporting childcare providers, childminders and parents in the Wicklow area. Wicklow.

WCCC was formed in 2001 and is funded by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality (DCDE) to improve the quality of childcare in Co. To advance and support the provision of childcare facilities on a local level, City and County Childcare Committees (CCCs) were established in 2001. Funded by the DCEDIY, 30 of these organisations operate across Ireland and over the last 15 years have been at the centre of all state developments and initiatives aimed at supporting the early years sector. In addition to supporting the administration of all Government funding programmes for childcare, City and County Childcare Committees act as the local ‘one stop shop’ for early childhood services, childminders and parents looking for support with quality development, HR, governance, financial sustainability and continuing professional development. Collectively, City and County Childcare Committees have a national reach into all 4,300 early childhood services across Ireland.

HSE advice for parents on flu and other illnesses this Christmas

Children can pick up viral infections such as colds, vomiting bug (norovirus) and flu more easily than adults.

The HSE are seeing high levels of flu among children aged 0 to 4 at the moment. As Christmas approaches, more social gatherings may increase the spread of flu.

Please see links below with advice from HSE

🎁 On the fifth day of Christmas, my Inclusion Coordinator gave to me… sensory tools that help children engage comfortably.

Portable sensory kits can be a reassuring support for children who benefit from additional sensory support. Fidgets, textured objects, weighted items or chewy tools can help children manage sensory input, especially when environments become busy or noisy. These tools encourage self-regulation and support focus during play and learning.

For additional ideas and supports related to sensory needs, you can explore AIM resources here: https://aim.gov.ie/resources/
