Train Hard...Fight Easy!
Riverstown Community First Responders Group just held a very successful joint training exercise with the assistance of specialist personnel from the National Ambulance Service, the Order of Malta and the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC). Our sincere thanks to Ciaran Wheeler & Trevor McKeon (NAS), Paula McCullagh (Order of Malta) and of course Sarah Kelly & Glen McLoughlin (NEOC). A special thanks also to Sligo Folk Park for the usage of their superb facilities.

Last night we held our first AGM. We recapped on the highs and lows of our first year and our ambitions for the year ahead. There was huge work put in to get our group started 👏 big kudos to Marina Swann (chair) Úna McDermott (coordinator ) Anne Harcourt (secretary) and Geraldine Kelly (treasurer) (all pictured below) for this as well as all of our hugely dedicated committee members and volunteers ❤️.
Also a thanks to our newly appointed vice chair Cllr Liam Brennan for continuing to champion our group at county council level.

A reminder of our AGM taking place this Wednesday in the Folk Park at 8pm, all welcome.

On Wednesday 15th April we will host our first AGM in the Riverstown Folk Park at 8pm. This is an open meeting, all welcome.

Thanks to Shamrock Gaels for hosting a cardiac screening for young athletes in Riverstown yesterday.

The Clinics were facilitated by Dillon Quirke Foundation who work to raise awareness and prevent Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).

On average SADS takes 100 young lives in Ireland every year. Cardiac screening can help prevent SADS by identifying heart conditions at an early stage before they cause symptoms. You can find out more on their website.

Save the date for the annual Riverstown Tractor & Vehicle Run 🚗 🚜 this Easter Monday 6 April at 12.30pm. There will be a kids toy run taking place at 1pm.
Last year we were extremely grateful to receive funding from this event to kick start our group!

Wishing all of our volunteers, supporters and the Riverstown community a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Here’s hoping that 2026 is a year full of good fortune health and happiness for all. Wishing the best of luck to our volunteers on their first full year as Riverstown Community First Responders. Thank you everyone who supported our group to get off the ground this year - your support made all the difference.

A huge thank you to Ann and Eamon of Tiger Print for generously providing us with these invaluable tools for our first responder kits - handy reminders and tools to draw upon when responding to emergency situations 👏 ⛑️
We are now live in the community and responding to any emergency calls in the greater Riverstown area.

Last night, we held our “go live” training. This was the final step in our training which has consisted of many online and in person training sessions.

Thanks to John McShane Community engagement manager from the National Ambulance Service (NAS) for delivering this training and for his guidance and support in getting us to this point!

We were also delighted to have Melua back with us who has inspired us from the beginning of our journey having been saved by the quick response of his local CFR group in Rosses Point - really showing the impact that community first responders can have ❤️ .

We are proud to announce that 23 first responders have been fully trained in our greater Riverstwon area and will be ready for emergency calls in the coming weeks once we get our offical green light. Thank you to this dedicated group who have given up so much of their time to get this group off the ground 👏 .
