GREAT NEWS POST!
We are delighted to welcome Hazel O'Brien to the practice πŸŽ‰πŸ†
Hazel is a Physiotherapist who completed her Masters degree from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Prior to this, Hazel completed a BSc in Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy at TUS Athlone and gained over three years of experience working in a busy private clinic as an Athletic Therapist.
During this time, Hazel treated a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and developed extensive experience in sports injuries and rehabilitation. Hazel has also worked with several sports teams across Offaly, Laois and Kildare and has a strong personal interest in sport, actively playing GAA with their local club.
Hazel is passionate about using education, exercise and evidence-based treatment to support patients in their recovery and help them return to full function and reach their full potential following injury. She has a particular clinical interest in post-operative rehabilitation, including hip and knee replacements and ACL reconstruction.
Please join me in welcoming Hazel to Physio First Roscommon. We are very excited for the future πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

"Shin splints slowing you down? πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Here's what you need to know:

Shin splints is an umbrella term for pain in the shin. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) is the most common version. This refers to inflammatory changes along the outer layer of your tibia called your perisoteum.

⚑️ Common Causes: Overtraining, improper footwear, and lack of recovery.
πŸ› οΈ Prevention & Relief Tips:
1️⃣ Gradually increase intensity in your workouts.
2️⃣ Wear supportive shoes and consider insoles if guided by a health professional
3️⃣ Stretch and strengthen your calves and shin muscles to compliment your running.
4️⃣ Use rest and modify your exercise routine to reduce pain.

Don’t let shin splints stop you from achieving your goals! πŸ’ͺ Save this post and tag a friend who needs it. πŸ™Œ
