We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating Kathleen’s 100th Birthday here at Shannon Lodge Nursing Home last week – and what a celebration it was! 💐🎈

Kathleen marked the incredible milestone in style with balloons, beautiful flowers, and a toast of Baileys 🥂 surrounded by love and laughter from fellow residents and staff.

Happy Birthday, Kathleen – what an inspiration you are to us all! 💛✨ Here’s to many more happy and healthy days ahead.

A Taste of Home at Shannon Lodge 🍰🥧

This week, our residents rolled up their sleeves and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of baking to celebrate Nursing Homes Week 2025!

With this year’s theme “A Taste of Home: Where Every Dish Tells a Story,” the kitchen was filled with laughter, delicious aromas, and plenty of sweet memories. Residents shared recipes, swapped stories, and created tasty treats that reminded them of home.

It was a heartwarming way to celebrate togetherness, food traditions, and the joy of community – the very spirit of Nursing Homes Ireland’s nationwide celebration, running from 18–24 August.

A big thank you to our amazing staff for making the day so special and to our residents for reminding us that every dish really does tell a story. ❤️

Earlier this week, the residents of Shannon Lodge enjoyed a truly special day out – a visit to Knock, filled with laughter, good company, and memorable moments.

On the way, they made a delightful stop at the newly opened Cox’s Bistro and Cafe in Strokestown, where cappuccinos, tea, and a selection of sweet treats were enjoyed in a warm and cosy atmosphere. It was the perfect way to relax and fuel up before the journey ahead.

Upon arriving in Knock, the group took time for reflection, prayer, and peaceful strolls, soaking in the tranquil surroundings and the spiritual calm that makes Knock so unique.

And of course, no special outing would be complete without a little fun. Before heading home, a few of our lovely residents managed to do the impossible – turning water into wine! With smiles all round, they raised a glass to friendship, faith, and the joy of sharing days like this together.

A wonderful outing, full of cherished memories.

With brushes in hand and joy in the air, our talented residents painted their day bright — all in the lovely company of our fluffy friend, who made sure to spread some tail-wagging happiness. 🐶💕

🌞 A Perfect Day on the Shannon! 🚤🍦

What a truly wonderful day we had with our residents from Shannon Lodge Nursing Home out on the beautiful River Shannon! The sun peeked through the clouds just in time for our boat trip, and spirits were as high as the gentle waves beneath us.

Laughter, conversation, and the gentle hum of the river set the perfect scene — with a few scoops of delicious ice cream adding a sweet touch to an already memorable afternoon. 🍨😄

It was a day filled with sunshine, fresh air, and cherished moments. Thank you to all who helped make it happen — here's to many more adventures on the water! ❤️🌊
