I’m sitting here tonight writing about so much but having little space to play with. So this hopefully will be it in a nutshell 😅. Our residents at SRCC are what matter most to us, so when I say us I mean our team. The team is what makes it happen and everyone works strategically at 100% within their own department and then in return we can provide the best of care to each and every one of our residents. Great communication is key to everything running smoothly and efficiently, sometimes you have to say things, lay it on the table as it is but positive communication is what matters because if you don’t have that you have nothing. Don’t be afraid to talk openly, don’t be afraid to ask someone if they’d like to talk or if they have an opinion, if you see someone vulnerable chat to them because what they have to say matters too. Have a great week everyone and remember…..watch, listen, ask and chat….communication is key 😉❤️

Happy Birthday Weekend to our wonderful Kathleen O’Connor, we hope you had the best time celebrating with family and friends….doesn’t she look absolutely amazing 🎂❤️. We are well and truly into November now, the evening’s are shorter and we set about adjusting ourselves to Wintertime. Tonight well the rain seems to want to make its presence known with a bang as we prepare to enter a brand new week tomorrow. Just a little something to keep in mind throughout the coming days….it is perfectly alright to sit, reflect, take some downtime, read that book….whatever it may be, it’s ok to stop up a little. We can’t always be busy and resting time is just as important for our bodies and minds as being busy. So don’t feel guilty or feel you should be doing more, this time of year is quiet. Go with the flow and enjoy the quieter moments (along with the busier ones), like our residents at SRCC having the chat in front of the fire 🔥 and with the wonderful transition year students who visited us this past week, they were a pure joy to have with us….thank you all 😉

Well as promised I’m sending out this video to you all from our Halloween Party. Shur on this dreary Monday evening it might give everyone a bit of entertainment. Ger was absolutely amazing with his recitation, Haritha and Stemy were wonderful dancing, Mary Lou was ‘thrilling’ 😅 accompanied by Elsie with thriller and Noel was wonderful as always. Enjoy 👏🏻👏🏻

Qíche Shamhna and there you go another weekend is done and dusted for another year. All our residents at SRCC enjoyed the most amazing Halloween party indoors. The fun, the laughter, the music, the singing, the food, the dancing and a very special recitation all made up for a very successful event. I always say teamwork is key to everything and once again our team did not disappoint. Samhain being of Ancient Celtic Origin we definitely marked this occasion well by ending the Summer and Harvest season and we are now well prepared to begin and strive through the Winter ahead. Enjoy the pictures and keep an eye out for a video to follow. Have a great week everyone 😊 #ʜᴀʟʟᴏᴡᴇᴇɴ2025

Road trip to ‘Leap Scarecrow Festival’ with our amazing residents. We travelled by bus, had a picnic, chatted about the many scarecrows on display (and of course our own 😅), along with taking in the beautiful scenery. What’s not to love 👻 🥰. Thanks to the wonderful students on work experience with us from Skibbereen Community School and Schull Community College who worked tremendously hard throughout this past week. They were a credit to their families, schools and we at SRCC very much acknowledge their caring ways, enthusiasm and kindness demonstrated to all our residents during their time with us. Our future is definitely looking very bright 😉. Thanks also to Pat Fitzgerald for his professional and friendly approach shown to everyone during our trip and thanks also to and 👏🏻

Big question for everyone tonight? After attending a recent function I was left with great wonder by the end of the night. Don’t get me wrong the tables were luminous with the most beautiful candles flickering, the display of many different foods looked like something out of a magazine and the soft music in the background set the tone as people moved around the room with great laughter and glee. Everyone mingled, told stories and was at great ease. Then someone entered the room and the atmosphere changed, people seemed uneasy as though they should be someone else, act differently, try to be a different person and that was it. The event finished and everyone left. My question is just because someone important entered the room, should people have to change their personality? Change from who they usually are? Be a different person?…..Answer: Absolutely not. We at SRCC are always proud to say that all our staff and residents are without doubt always themselves. No matter who we meet throughout life we should always be ourselves. We had 7 transition year students join us this week from Skibbereen Community School, they are a typical example of people being themselves, they were kind, caring, willing to learn and not afraid to try new tasks throughout their time with us….all without changing who they are. Thanks to each and everyone of you for visiting us here at SRCC. Now the question is back to you all reading this….do you change if someone important enters the room or event? Always be yourself no matter what the circumstances 😉…..let’s be aware as we move about this week

This is a story of 2 wonderful ladies, a beautiful friendship, a life of new adventures and ideas shared everyday, and what’s even more special is that they were both residents of ours here at SRCC. How can one improve on such perfection in life, what more can one ask for, it’s a beautiful love story in fact and one which we would like to share with you all. You will need to read the text on this opening picture and the rest is self explanatory. If I were to extend a message for the week ahead it would be…..don’t waste time worrying about anything in life (big or small), problems will solve themselves, everything happens for a reason but sometimes you need to wait to figure out why, be patient and most of all be kind to yourself and others….life is short as we all know, use your time wisely and like our 2 wonderful ladies Helen and Andrea, be that friend, enjoy the adventure and look out for each other and quoting from Helen’s son Ronan Brady….’Missing pieces can sometimes be the answer to the part of a much bigger puzzle’.
