Coolmine is saddened to hear of the passing of a Marianne Faithfull at the age of 78. Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.

Marianne Faithfull was an intrinsic part of the founding of Coolmine. At a time when Marianne was in the midst of addiction, a friend of hers, Lord Paddy Rossmore, dismayed by the use of further drugs in her treatment, decided to open a rehabilitation centre to help her. That treatment centre was Coolmine Lodge which opened in 1973 and was based on the Therapeutic Community model.

Thanks to Lord Rossmore’s love for Marianne, 52 years on, we are still able to help many more people to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

Marianne’s legacy will forever live on within Coolmine.

May she rest in peace.
