providing excellence in care of clients in the North West since 1988. Our clients vary from children to the elderly, from sedentary to elite athletes. Clients can self refer but are also referred by doctors and colleagues. Appointments are usually available within 24 hours and we welcome any queries clients may have be

fore making an appointment. A Chartered Physiotherapist is always available to return calls / give advice on the same day. Clients will be treated privately by an experienced Chartered Physiotherapist. We aim to Assess, Diagnose, Treat and Rehabilitate our clients to normal function and prevent recurrence of problems. All our Chartered Physiotherapists attended university to degree level in physiotherapy and have post-grad education in manipulative therapy, manual therapy, treatment and management of sports injuries and exercise medicine. Our physiotherapists constantly update their skills through continuing education courses and conferences in order to provide the best possible treatments for our clients. Shirley established the practice in Sligo in 1988 on her return from Dublin having worked in hospitals & private practice for 5 years. Mary Mulvany joined the practice in 1995. The practice moved location in 1996 to Upper Pearse Road, Sligo and Ray Finan joined the team in 2010. Shirley Foley - Chartered Physiotherapist

Shirley graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1979 and is a member of the Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice, Chartered Physiotherapist in Exercise Medicine and the Chartered Physiotherapist in Manual Therapy. Shirley is also a member of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (ISOM) since 1996 and undertook the H.Dip Musculo-Skeletal Medicine in 2004. Shirley has over 40 years experience and worked for Athletics Ireland for 20 years 1985 – 2005 with whom she attended 2 Olympic Games, Barcelona and Atlanta. Sligo G.A.A. for 10 years 1990 – 2000 and worked as team physiotherapist to Sligo Rovers ’90 – ’94. Shirley also has many sporting interests – athletics, rowing, gaelic football and hurling, rugby and scuba-diving. Shirley is currently a member of Sligo Yacht Club and a keen leisure cyclist. Shirley was awarded a Trinity Pink for rowing as a student in 1979 and has won National Championships in rowing and fin swimming. Keen to continue her professional development Shirley continues to attend national and international courses and conferences to keep up to date with current research and developments. Shirley specializes in the treatment of musculo-skeletal problems – back and neck problems, sports injuries, and biomechanical assessment. She has a special interest in the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries and exercise medicine for all.

H.Dip Musculo-Skeletal Medicine Shirley established the practice in Sligo in 1988 on her return from Dublin having worked in hospitals & private practice for 5 years. Mary Mulvany joined the practice in 1995. The practice moved location in 1996 to Upper Pearse Road, Sligo. Shirley graduated from T.C.D. in 1979 and is a member of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine since 1996 and undertook the H.Dip Musculo-Skeletal Medicine in 2004. Shirley has over 30 years experience and worked for Athletics Ireland for 20 years 1985 - 2005 with whom she attended 2 Olympic Games, Barcelona and Atlanta. Sligo G.A.A. for 10 years 1990 - 2000 and worked as team physiotherapist to Sligo Rovers '90 - '94. Shirley works as physiotherapist at many charity events most recently ' The 32 Marathon. Shirley also has many sporting interests - athletics, rowing, gaelic, rugby., scuba-diving & sailing and was awarded a Trinity Pink for rowing and has won National Championships in rowing and fin swimming. Keen to continue professional development Shirley continues to attend national and international courses to keep up to date with current research and developments. Shirley specializes in the treatment of musculo-skeletal problems - back and neck problems, sports injuries, biomechanical assessment and supply of bespoke orthotics. She has a special interest in prevention and rehabilitation of injuries, bone health, osteoporosis, osteopenia and prevention of falls in the elderly. Mary Mulvany MISCP Dip TCD MCSP , MSOM Mary Mulvany graduated from Trinity College in 1978 and worked as a Chartered physiotherapist in hospitals and private practice before settling back in Sligo and joining Shirley in the practice in 1994. Throughout her career, Mary has regularly undertaken post graduate studies in musculoskeletal, women's health, orthopaedic and rehabilittative physiotherapy. In 1996, she qualified as a member of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (ISOM). Mary has travelled internationally with Athletics Association of ireland (AAI) as team physiotherapist 2000 - 2006, and has worked as physiotherapist with Sligo GAA, Sligo Rovers, Sligo Tennis Club, Sligo Rugby Club and covered many local and National charity events. Mary specialises in musculoskeletal problems, back and neck problems, sports injuries, women's health and management of osteoporosis and osteopaenia. Ray Finan MISCP, BSc. Sports & Exercise Sciences, MSc.Physiotherapy Ray joined the team at North West Physiotherapy in 2010. Having originally graduated from the University of Limerick in 2007 with a BSc in Sports & Exercise Sciences, Ray travelled to Edinburgh to complete his MSc. in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University, graduating in 2009.

Upon his return home he began working with GAA and soccer clubs in the locality and set up his own practice, Ray Finan Physiotherapy in February 2010. He continues to work with Ballisodare Utd. and St. John’s GAA in the capacity of Team Physiotherapist.
