Only came across this poem for the first time last night and it’s really beautiful in its simplicity… Through mindfulness we can first notice bad habits, then figure out how to change them and then learn new habits!

Have you heard of “email apnoea”? Apparently up to 80% of people may suffer from it!
It's the unconscious habit of suspending or decreasing breathing while writing emails (it can also happen while doomscrolling too) - and this can affect the Vagus nerve causing stress to the nervous system!
If we develop a more mindful habit to reading emails/scrolling, then we can firstly become aware of this breath-holding and then take steps to start breathing again!
Take breaks, watch your posture, stand up and stretch every hour and take deep breaths every hour... all simple ways of becoming more present and in the moment whether at work or at home.

I've just opened my email and there's nothing out of the ordinary there. It's the usual daily flood of schedule, project, travel, information, and junk mail. Then I notice...I'm holding my breath.

Time for a summer yin yoga practice! I’m excited to be giving a yin workshop in this Sunday evening. Yin is my favourite yoga practice, one where we hold poses for a number of minutes to target the body’s connective tissues and tap into the meridian energy lines. It’s a simple, but not always easy practice!
No matter how I feel beforehand, yin always leaves me feeling refreshed, revitalised and clear-headed, and as if I’ve worked places I never knew existed!

I've been practicing Mindfulness since I was diagnosed with a chronic illness about 8 years ago, and really believe in the benefits - I feel less stressed and anxious, less negative, and I am more in the present and appreciate the little things in life. I finally got around to becoming a qualified Mindfulness Coach with the Transformation Academy and I'm delighted to say that while I was familiar with many of the practices through my various yoga trainings, the theory and neuroscience was a fascinating add on! Now my next challenge is to post some mindfulness tips over on IG in the coming weeks.... Stay tuned! 🙏

Yoga: I teach yoga classes around Sligo and offer private 1-2-1 sessions to treat individual needs. Helps relieve back pain and improve posture. Good for mobility and flexibility. Great for relaxation, helps deal with stress and anxiety. One-to-one classes available, tailored to your requirements

Wellness Coaching: A 6-week programme designed to help people with chronic illnesses such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes and IBD make positive changes to your life. In one-to-one weekly sessions tailored to your individual needs, we'll cover diet, exercise, action plans, coping with stress/anxiety and more.

Reiki: An energy healing alternative therapy. Helps to activate and unblock the main chakra (energy) points in the body. Good for times of stress, illness, unhappiness or feeling stuck. Helps to relax and unwind and it’s a gentle therapy - no movement or even touching required. I like to describe it as being like a massage for the mind.
