I currently am treating several clients with Frozen shoulder—also known as adhesive capsulitis—it is a condition that causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint, often developing gradually and worsening over time. Here’s a breakdown of the typical symptoms:
🧊 Key Symptoms of Frozen Shoulder
• Persistent shoulder pain• Often dull or aching
• Can worsen at night, disrupting sleep A B
• Stiffness and limited range of motion• Difficulty lifting your arm or rotating it
• Everyday tasks like dressing or reaching overhead become challenging B
• Progressive stages
Frozen shoulder typically unfolds in three phases C:1. Freezing stage (2–9 months): Increasing pain and decreasing mobility
2. Frozen stage (4–12 months): Pain may ease slightly, but stiffness remains
3. Thawing stage (5–24 months): Gradual return of movement and reduction in pain
🧠 Other Notes
• It often affects adults over 40 and can be triggered by injury, surgery, or conditions like diabetes D C
• The condition can last for months or even years, but most people eventually recover with proper treatment
If you’re experiencing these symptoms, it’s worth consulting a healthcare provider for a diagnosis and tailored treatment plan. Want to explore how to manage or treat it next?
