5-Week Somatic Yoga with Mary McDermott 💫
Tuesday's | 8pm - 9.15pm | April 28th - May 26th.

Somatic Yoga is a movement practice that integrates aspects of Feldenkrais and myofascial release.

The practice is floor-based and involves fine, mindful movements. It facilitates ease and flow in the body and enhances the mind-body connection. It’s a restorative practice that addresses fatigue, stiffness, and stagnancy. It complements and can deepen traditional yoga asana.

Each session starts with a grounding meditation and an invitation to reconnect soul, heart, mind, and body. Classes end with a short meditation to integrate the benefits.

No experience is needed. This series is particularly suitable for those who feel exhausted, stressed, or limited by injuries.

About Mary McDermott:
Mary is a life-long movement practitioner. Before immersing in yogic practices, she trained as a competitive gymnast and Argentine tango dancer.

She has over 2 decades of experience as a yoga practitioner and teacher and is known for her graceful capacity to impart the teachings in an accessible way.

Mary is a student of the world-renowned healer and teacher of Tao, Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha. Master Sha’s vision is to make self-healing practices widely available to meet the complex challenges of these times. She is a very special teacher and we are grateful to have her at Salt & Soul.

Starting Monday, March 23rd | 9:30 – 10:30am

Come as you are. This 7-week beginner-friendly Hatha yoga course is designed to gently guide you into the foundations of yoga, with a focus on flow, breath, and presence.

Each week, we’ll move mindfully through essential postures, giving you the time and space to build confidence, explore your edge, and connect deeply with your breath. As the weeks progress, you’ll develop strength, flexibility, and a greater sense of ease both on and off the mat.

With supportive guidance and an uplifting, welcoming atmosphere, this course is perfect whether you’re completely new to yoga or returning to refresh your practice.

Expect warm energy, grounded intention, and plenty of positive vibes as you reconnect body, breath, and mind.

Meet Darren - guiding our students since 2025 ✨

Darren is passionate about music, breath, and movement. As a professional musician, he brings the focus, presence, and discipline from performing on stage into his teaching.

Darren’s classes focus on breath-led movement, calming the mind, and reconnecting with the body. His playful yet grounded approach is woven with practical, science-based breathwork drawn from the Oxygen Advantage® method.

Since 2025, Darren has been guiding students through “The Breath Lab”, his signature Salt & Soul workshop designed to steady the mind, boost energy, and support overall wellbeing. He also teaches Slow Flow every Tuesday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 10:00am.

Join us this Sunday evening for a deeply nourishing Soundbath Meditation - enjoy a full hour dedicated entirely to rest and reset.

There is no movement required. Just arrive, get comfortable, and allow yourself to fully switch off. Bring your blanket and pillow, snuggle up, and let the sound do the work.

During a soundbath, you’ll be immersed in soothing frequencies and gentle vibrations that help guide your body into a deeply relaxed, meditative state. Many people experience:

Mother’s Day on the Mat ❤️

This one felt special 🙏

My eldest girl, who just turned 8, joined me on the mat this morning for her very first Vinyasa class. She’s spent years watching and practising with me at home and around the studio, but today, she finally stepped into the class herself.

She’s grown up around the studio, the early mornings, the cleaning, prepping, and all the little things that go into keeping the doors open. It’s a family business, and she’s been part of it since day one.

Nigel held such a lovely space for her and all of us this morning 🙏

And to this community who keep showing up week after week and keep the studio alive, I see you, and I’m so grateful for you all. ❤️
