Two years ago, I saw a client who wanted to resolve long term unhealthy eating behaviours. Lynda had been struggling with food issues over 20 years and was fed up with the difficulty it caused in her day to day life.

During her hypnotherapy session she uncovered and acknowledged the root causes of her eating patterns.
I truly believe that it's the understanding that sets us free and in this case, that was definitely shown to be true, because post session, even though she had been in a particular pattern with food for 20 years… she stopped binge eating overnight.

The behaviour vanished.

Since that day, she has been able to eat normally and her days are free from being consumed by thoughts of food. She doesn't binge or restrict anymore, eats when she is hungry and can have 3 biscuits without eating the whole pack and every Monday doesn't start with…"this week I'll be good".

Lynda experienced overnight success through the hypnosis intervention and it impressed her so much so that she felt compelled to train as hypnotherapist and she is now an absolutely wonderful therapist in her own right.

Lynda and I recently collaborated to develop an online event, to help more women have their own profound food related breakthroughs.

As Irish people we can often struggle with Praise... as in struggle to accept it - to welcome it in. We are good at deflecting it, shrugging it off, underplaying ourselves and our gifts.

And yet when someone offers praise they are truly giving us a GIFT... so the gracious thing is to accept it, welcome it and indeed let it in.

It takes practice until it eventually becomes familiar and comfortable. Give it a go! Let it in!

And furthermore, if you google Self Praise - you will be greeted with an onslaught of 'Self praise is no praise" " Self praise is for losers..." etc etc.... Rubbish!

Self Praise is THE magic potion to build self worth, self confidence and self esteem! I teach my wonderful clients to praise themselves and see the magic and transformation that unfolds in their lives through it. Give it a go!

Self praise is the foundation of a winning mindset... self criticism is to set the foundation for struggle.

So on that note - am letting the gift of praise in - with gratitude!

"I celebrated my 50th birthday recently. I had been a smoker since I was 18 years old.
During that period of time, I tricked myself into believing I could quit at any time & that I wasn't a "real" smoker.

I would have considered myself mainly a social smoker & didn't feel the need to smoke regularly...

But... I felt anxiety as a social smoker because I was never really present in the social occasion, just sussing out when I could smoke!

I am a nurse & I have seen first hand the & cared for those whose lives have been negatively impacted by smoking.

I felt a shame yet also the addictive drive towards smoking. Contrast to say the least!

I eventually plucked up the courage to contact Nemara. It turns out that was the easy part!

From the absolute beginning, Nemara was warm, kind, honest, relatable but most of all I felt heard & supported by her.

The inner critic is very powerful if left to run amok in the corridors of the mind.

It can ruin your event, your day, your week, your month, your year... your life.

I should know as my own inner critic ran wild for decades until I finally understood that I could control it and release it.

It's now long gone which gives me great pleasure, yet, what gives me great fulfilment is assisting other people to release their inner critic...

As the most important words we will ever hear are the words we say to ourselves - what we tell ourselves matters.

How we think, dictates how we feel, how we feel dictates how we act/react, and how we act dictates our results.
How we think creates our life.

When we change our thinking we can literally change our life - just as Tina did -

Four of my clients are currently pregnant!
The "I'm Pregnant" texts are always the most beautiful and moving to receive for a multitude of reasons.

These women don't know each other, they live in different countries, are different ages, have different careers, and yet they have much in common.

Yes, they now share the joy of pregnancy yet prior this wonderful life affirming breakthrough they had so many difficulties and challenges in common.

All have overcome -

* Long term, difficult fertility journeys...
* Fear, anxiety, panic, catastrophising...
* Lack of self belief and trust in their bodies...
* Comparison to others...
* Self blame...
* Chronic negative self talk...
* The expectation that the past would also be their future...

Changing the mind is one of the biggest steps we can make to changing whats happening in the body.

Why wanting to quit smoking does not work…
If you want to stop smoking or vaping… use more effective language. After all ‘winners never quit and quitters never win’. The mind is always listening and quitting implies failure. Quitting implies missing out.
Use more decisive and effective language- “I’m choosing to stop and I’m choosing to Love stopping.” “I love not smoking”. When we use more effective language (suggestions) we get better results.

"I guess I feel, Nemara walked with me on life's path as I was navigating my way through life's challenges. She treated me with such kindness and empathy.

I felt she held such a safe space as I shared my stories. She assisted me in rewriting an old script which didn't serve me too well. Thanks to Nemara's coaching skills, I can now view things in a different light.

I was chatting with a friend the other day about how I was a daily meditator for years and how back then when I first started I noticed the significant shift in my ability to still my mind and reduce the internal chaos. This is of course a normal and desired outcome with a regular meditation practice yet at the time it felt quite miraculous.

However I also noticed over time that although I had a quieter mind overall, I was still quite unhappy. Something was yet to be resolved or there was a missing piece to the happiness puzzle that I had still not discovered.

I may have cultivated a quieter mind yet it had not stopped me being hard on myself, putting myself down or telling myself I was not good enough for this or that..."

It was not until I heard the phrases (a couple of decades later!) "The most important words you will ever hear are the words you say to yourself" and "Your mind BELIEVES everything you tell it, true/false, real/imagined, right/wrong" that I got the mind and life altering 'AHA'...

I may have been devotedly meditating each morning yet all through my days I was devotedly telling myself terrible things...
'You're not good enough
you're not able
You're not capable
You don't deserve
Your'e not loveable..." and so on..

A significant contributor to unhappiness are the unkind, mean or insensitive things we say to ourselves on a daily basis and while meditation stills the chaos we also have to take the daily action to transform the inner dialogue. It takes work but its worth it because when we tell ourselves better things, we feel better,- more optimistic, more loveable, more capable, more able, more motivated, more than enough. We feel happier!

Love Yourself First??

When I was in my 20's and 30's and desperately looking for love I never really understood what therapists or friends meant by 'Love Yourself First'...? I couldn't fathom what that looked like... or how would one even do that? We do not know what we do not learn, right?

Today as a therapist I find myself regularly educating others on how to do just this because I now understand what it means and also know that we can only love another to the degree that we love ourselves. Self love matters. The more you love you, the more capacity you have to love friends, family, partners, children, your community, animals and your environment. The more you love you - the happier you are.

Here are my top 3 suggestions for Loving yourself first -

- Change your inner dialogue - Release the inner critic and embrace your inner cheerleader. Harsh critical words we say to ourselves are self loathing not self loving. Cultivating an inner dialog of self support, self encouragement and self praise are ways to actively love yourself and nurture rock solid self esteem.

- Please yourself first! When we lack self love we tend to People Please - to put the needs and wants of others before our own. People Pleasers are afraid of not being liked or loved so tend to over extend themselves and give too much to their own detriment and can end up being bitter and resentful.

- Make feeding yourself well a pleasure and take action daily to take care of your health. Eating junk and drinking junk are acts of self harm and self loathing. To love yourself is to feed your body daily the nutritious fuel it can actually use and thrive on. Eating for wellness is a powerful demonstration of self love.

Freedom from outdated beliefs.

Too often the stories from our past are subconsciously holding us back, sabotaging us and preventing us from living fully and courageously. Even when we have a good understanding of where our blocks have originated we witness ourselves repeat and replay self defeating scripts. Why? As very young children we adopt certain beliefs about ourselves based on the environment we grow up in, the care or lack thereof of parents or guardians and the words we hear about ourselves from parents or teachers. As little sponges we take it all in and our young selves create beliefs that are very often not true yet stay with us for life. Most adults are operating on the outdated beliefs and emotions created by a small and often hurt child. Not a great recipe for success in personal and business lives.

‘You can change the stage yet the play remains the same’... until you do something effective and lasting to change that script.

I have been hypnotising bodies for over 20 years as a massage therapist and assisting people to release long held emotions that have been holding them back. However it was not until my discovery of Rapid Transformational Therapy that I realised the beliefs of the hurt child needed to be acknowledged and transformed by the client themselves in order to effect the permanent desired shift otherwise sabotaging behaviours tend to keep resurfacing. Understanding is power and understanding in Hypnosis is the most phenomenal power and leads to rapid permanent change.
