If you've been to me, you'll know I'm a fan of slouching! The more relaxed you are, the more comfortable you'll be. There's a lot of marketing telling us that the quick fix for pain is to 'fix' posture. The reality is that it's far more complex and messy. But addressing the real causes of pain will lead to better outcomes. I'd love to hear your experiences of this:
Have you been told that your 'poor' posture is causing your pain?

Spinal discs...so misunderstood! They allow us to bend and like all our tissues, change with age. This does not mean that they will cause pain. Most disc changes don't cause pain and those that do, mostly improve with time.
I hope you found this interesting.
Thank you for reading!

Spine surgery... when is it needed? The thought of having surgery on the spine often creates a lot of anxiety and fear. Spine surgery is successful in limited situations. In very rare situations, it is necessary. It works very well for leg pain caused by a nerve being irritated in the spine, eg by a disc. But back pain may not be better after surgery, even if the leg pain is gone.
At 6 months, most people with back and leg pain will have the same outcome with or without surgery. So, it's worth trying other options such as Physiotherapy, pain medication, and allowing time for healing.
So, surgery can be successful if you're the right candidate, but it is not inevitable.
Make sure you're getting the best advice and be informed before making any decisions.
I hope this helps. Thank you for reading.
June.
