We're all set up for Darkness into Light . There's still time to join us tomorrow morning. The walk starts at 4.15am from the Finn valley Centre. The weather forecast is great and we are looking forward to a great morning.

You can register online or come along and register at the start.

A big thank you to the team and students at St. Columba's College for helping us get the route decorated!

𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: Darkness Into Light is taking place in Ballybofey-Stranorlar on Saturday 10th May 2024. Our 4th annual event will start at 4.15am from the Finn Valley Leisure Centre. The route also finished at the Finn Valley Centre.

𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Register in advance if you can at www.darknessintolight.ie. We will be able to take a small number of registrations on the morning, but volunteers will be busy with other tasks.

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡: The Ballybofey-Stranorlar event will start and finish at the Finn Valley Centre. The walk starts sharp at 4.15am. Participants can arrive from 3.45am onward. Note that we will be meeting outside, so wrap up warm. Toilets will be available.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓: 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐍𝐎 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐜𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐫. This is to respect the local residents and to ensure the safety of all participants. Parking is available at: Ballybofey Main Car Parks, Raitts Car Park, beside Homesavers in Stranorlar and many other points around the towns. We encourage you to arrive in plenty of time to park and reach the start point on time.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞: The route will go through Ard McCool, up Drumboe Avenue and through the Woods. It will continue down Beechwood Avenue, the Back Lane, around the riverside walk at MacCumhaills and back up Railway Road to The Finn Valley Centre. Be sure to bring a torch or a personal light for the section in the woods.

𝐓𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬: There will be toilets available at the Finn Valley Centre and at MacCumhaills.

𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐓-𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐬: For anyone registering on the morning we have a small number of t-shirts available. We can't guarantee to have one left for you, or have one in your size. But we will do our best.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐍𝐨 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞: Please respect our environment. Leave only footprints, take only memories.

those affected by mental health challenges.

🙏 PLEASE HELP. 🙏 We need just 20 volunteers to help steward the Darkness into Light Ballybofey-Stranorlar walk on the morning 10th May. 😃 Our volunteers always say how much they enjoyed it, and there really isn't much for you to do. ✨ Our volunteer stewards stand at key points on the walk. their job is to help the walkers stay on the right route. Once the walkers have passed, you can join the walk yourself. 🚶🚶‍♀️ If you are one of the hundreds of people who joined the walk in previous years, maybe this year is your chance to help support others. Thank you so much to everyone who came out this morning and joined us for Darkness Into Light Ballybofey Stranorlar . What a beautiful morning.

An especial thank you to the committee and volunteers who work so hard every year, and give up many hours of their free time to make this event happen.

We also want to shout out to the many partners, businesses, schools, youth groups and others who get actively involved.

Thank you again to the Finn Valley Leisure Centre Finn Valley Centre and Patsy for hosting us.

To Bernard Long & Son Transport for supplying the stage. Basicc Twin Towns , The BASE for equipment and volunteers and the volunteers from the Twin Towns CE Scheme, An Garda Siochana, Donegal County Council for supplying cones, Gerard Browne Plant and Tool Hire for the generator. Thanks goes to Sean Mac Cumhaills, hughes and Ballybofey United for stewards and other support. for refreshments, for milk. Thank you Planet Youth Ballybofey for the decorations for the route. And last but not least all the schools who provided decorations for the route and who came along and helped out on the evening. A big thank you to the Finn Valley College TY students for their volunteering during the clean up.

Wow - it really does that a huge community effort to make an event like this happen.
