With the compulsory enforcement of the National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland as set out by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)), this is directly impacting the supply of available beds, at the same time as the increase in capacity is required. The pressure on all Nursing Home Owners/Operators to comply with these Standards in order to retain their current capacity is constant. The need to develop new capacity is critical to meet increased demographic changes that Ireland is facing.
