Teva employs around 800 people in Ireland and has three sites in the Republic of Ireland and one site in Northern Ireland.
Commercial Division
Teva’s commercial activities span the sales and support services for Teva’s large portfolio of medicines, both generics and branded innovative medicines, along with over-the-counter consumer health products.
We supply medicines to treat a wide range of diseases and conditions – from multiple sclerosis, asthma, cancer and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, to pain relief, cholesterol reducers and antibiotics. Dosage forms include extended and immediate release tablets and capsules, injectables, creams, ointments, solutions, suspensions and inhalers.
Whether they’re used in hospitals or by GPs, nurses, or independent pharmacists, our medicines are supported by comprehensive advice and information from our Medical teams.
In additional to the field-based sales teams covering both primary and secondary care in Ireland; Teva’s commercial teams and support functions are based in Swords, near Dublin.
Research and Manufacturing
Teva is a major employer in Ireland with hundreds of highly skilled staff working in our Research and Development and manufacturing facilities.
Waterford
The Waterford site is of major strategic importance within the Teva manufacturing network and is responsible for the manufacture and development of respiratory products for supply to the United States and around 30 other global markets. It includes an onsite research and development centre.
Since 1985 Teva has invested significantly in the market leading technologies to manufacture metered dose inhalers (MDIs) and breath-actuated inhalers such as Teva’s Spiromax® device.
The Waterford site quality standards are recognised as the gold standard within Teva. The site is FDA approved (which means we are approved to export our products to the US, by US’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA)).
The research and development focus at Waterford is dedicated to the next generation respiratory products for the treatment of respiratory conditions like asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Baldoyle
Since 1984 Baldoyle has been a manufacturing site for the over-the-counter medication Sudocrem®, first developed in 1931 and now a multi-award winning, globally recognised product sold in over 50 countries.
Sudocrem® Antiseptic Healing Cream is an absolute staple in Irish households, loved by Irish families for its ability to soothe cuts, grazes, bed sores, sunburn, eczema as well as nappy rash.
In fact, Sudocrem® is the top selling nappy rash product in 15 countries.
Developed in 1931 to treat nappy rash by Dublin pharmacist Thomas Smith, the classic formula has remained unchanged and the 34.4 million pots sold worldwide every year are still manufactured in Baldoyle, Dublin.
