This is Amanita muscaria, also known as Fly Agaric. It is one of our psychedelic mushrooms that gets a bad rap, but is wonderful medicine for nerve and muscular pain. I absolutely love this mushroom! πβ€
Psychedelic mushrooms, most notably the psilocybin species, have been demonised for a very long time by the powers that be, but studies are showing amazing results for these 'shrooms helping people with moderate to severe depression and anxiety and other mental health difficulties, like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. These studies are showing they reset the brain, which could lead to better avenues of help for people suffering from these mental health difficulties. Remember, no mushrooms should be orally consumed if you do not know what they are. Some are VERY poisonous! ALWAYS err on the side of caution.
Fly Agaric is a toadstool and very recognisable, with its white spots over a red cap. It isn't a psilocybin mushroom, but is still a psychedelic. Unlike some of the other psychedelics, it should not be consumed internally, as it can cause liver failure, but provides amazing relief externally for nerve pain, like sciatica and trigeminal neuralgia. It's main chemical constituent, muscamol, is what relieves pain. I use it all the time for muscular pain too. I put the tincture in my creams and balms and it works a treat!!
Hopefully, the psychedelic mushrooms will become part of our Pharmacopoeia in the not too distant future! Until then, if you need some Fly Agaric pain balm, let me know!πππ
