These are electuaries. Electuaries are herbal medicines mixed with honey or other sweet substance, such as glycerine or maple syrup. I made these for a wonderful friend who is having tummy issues. It is a mix of Slippery elm (Ulmas fulva), Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis), and Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra). The sweet part is honey and a little Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) glycerite. I rolled them into little balls and then dusted them in Cacao to keep them from sticking. Cacao is also wonderful medicine for the body and helps with fatigue.

Because electuaries are sweet, they help soothe and nourish the body. Little ones like them too! Like having a yummy herbal truffle.😊🌿🍬

This is what inflammation looks like! Mad, isn't it?! I was doing a castor oil pack on my left arm as I have been treating what is known as SIRVA (Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration). This can happen when the nurse puts the needle in too deep or too high into the deltoid muscle tissue. Unfortunately, it is quite common. The body responds with symptoms of bursitis, tendinitis, and frozen shoulder. It is very painful and debilitating. I still have limited mobility and stiffness in the shoulder, but the pain is gone! The mobility and stiffness are slowly getting better. I have been using a combination of my topical Fly agaric and Datura pain cream and spray, an anti-inflammatory herbal tincture, visits to an osteopath, and massage and dry needling from my amazing friend .

But let's talk about castor oil packs. Castor oil is an AMAZING anti-inflammatory! It draws out inflammation to the surface of the skin. Hence, the mottling you see on my arm! The white areas are free of inflammation. The red is where the inflammation has been drawn out. It will be washed away through the body's detox channels. I recommend castor oil packs for joint, muscle, and tendon/ligament injuries and period pain. A "pack" actually isn't a pack at all. I just smear castor oil on the inflamed area, place a wet wash cloth on the skin and then put a hot water bottle on top. Make sure to have a cover for your hot water bottle so you don't burn your skin! Some people use square flannels (cloths) and dip them in castor oil and apply, but I find that way too messy. Either way, it's super effective! My arm and shoulder are a million times better and slowly healing.🌿🌈

This tall, fuzzy plant is Mullein (Verbascum thapsus). It is a wonderful lung tonic. I use it for all manner of lung issues. It's great for bronchitis, asthma, and COPD. I also use it with Curcuma longa (Turmeric) for spine related pain as its tall flowered stem resembles our spine. It's leaves are soft and fuzzy which makes it great for dry, harsh coughs, soothing the mucosal tissue in the respiratory tract. It also is great for catarrh and making a cough more productive to clear the airways. Its large, fuzzy leaves were known as "cowboys' toilet paper"! πŸ˜†πŸ§» The flowering tops were dipped into wax throughout antiquity and used as candles known as "hag candles".

The pretty purple flower photobombing is Digitalis purpurea (Foxglove). It is one of our baneful herbs, a poison, but used properly is wonderful for congestive heart failure and other cardiovascular issues. From its phytochemistry, we were able to isolate digitalin, which is the active compound in the pharmaceutical Digoxin. This drug is used for congestive heart failure. I love this herb and it follows me wherever I go!

If you are having lung or spinal issues and think Mullein could help, get in touch via DM.

This is a lovely tea to relax when you're feeling overwhelmed. It also helps to ease grief within the energetic heart. It's cooling and soothing in action. It has rose, blue lotus, tilia, lemon verbena, chamomile, lavender, mimosa bark, passionflower, and hawthorn leaf and flower. These herbs help relieve stress, anxiety, grief, and overwhelm. It would also be a lovely tea to drink before bed to help with insomnia.

I have this tea available now to purchase via DM. It's €15 for 50g + €4 post/packing.

This is Irish Arnica. Bellis perennis. The cute and oh, so sunshine-y daisy. Daisy is wonderful for painful contusions (bruises), aches, stiffness, and strains. I remember at Herbfeast when the herbalist Julie Bruton-Seal said it worked better than Arnica (Arnica montana), in her opinion. And, from that moment I was intrigued. I use the infused oil in my pain balms. I also mix it with Comfrey for sprains and dislocations. I mix it with olive oil (anti-inflammatory) and leave it on a sunny windowsill to infuse for 4-6 weeks.

The oil rubbed into a bruise will clear it up in no time (I have seen this magick). It's old name was Bruisewort, and for a very good reason! 🌼

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter/Ostara/Eostre weekend! I have been busy making tea and smoking blends. This is one of the teas I made this weekend for a client who is having issues with their tummy and skin. It is a mix of Calendula (Calendula officinalis), Red clover (Trifolium pratense), and Viola (Viola tricolour) to balance the skin and Fennel (Foeniculum vulagare), Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis), Archangelica (Angelica archangelica), and Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) to help soothe the gut and improve digestion. Calendula, Archangelica, and Trifolium are also great for balancing the menstrual cycle. Viola helps ease grief from the heart and is known as Heartsease. I added Clitorea (Blue pea) to turn the tea a lovely blue hue when brewed. Clitorea is wonderful for boosting female pleasure. 😏😍 This tea is relaxing and calming as well.

If you would like your own tea or smoking blend, send me a DM! All teas and smoking blends are sent via An Post.

I love this tea so much! It's off to a sweet friend in the UK as a surprise. The blend of nervines (chamomile, tilia, blue lotus, and passionflower) calm and relax the nervous system, particularly anxiety, while the marshmallow root soothes the digestive tract and codonopsis sweetens the mix and provides adrenal support to de-stress. A 30g bag of this tea is €15. It's so lovely! It's like a hug in your mug!πŸ’œπŸŒΏβ˜•

If you would like to try it just send me a DM! Post and packing from Ireland starts at €4.20.

The Season of Eros is upon us!πŸ’ Valentine's Day is known as the lovers' holiday and there are quite a few herbs to boost our loving mood and libido to keep us in the mood for Valentine's Day and for the other 364 days of the year! makes the most beautiful herbal infographics to help us learn what plants to use during our Wheel of the Year. She is an amazing herbalist and I love learning from her. Go check her out!😊

These herbs help keep us in the mood.😈😏 Damiana (Turnera diffusa) and Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) are two of my favourite herbs as well as the rich decadent deliciousness of Cacao. Cacao was revered by Central and South American natives as a sacred herb of ceremony. It can be used in place of coffee for its energising affect and it's where chocolate comes from! Damiana is wonderful for boosting libido and our mood. Blue Lotus is a beautiful nervine and can help dispel stress that could impede s*xual desire. Mucuna (Mucuna pruriens) is great for energy and s*xual wellbeing and is also a great source of L-DOPA and is good for Parkinson's disease. L-DOPA is the precursor to dopamine which helps us to feel pleasure and is one of our feel good neurotransmitters. Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) is a wonderful adaptogen and liver herb, which tastes lovely and in Ayurveda is known as the 'five flavour' berry. I use Schisandra a lot in my female remedies.

Treat your lover to one of these decadent herbs and let things get hot and steamy this Valentine's Day!πŸ’ŒπŸŒΏπŸ’

This is Amanita muscaria, also known as Fly Agaric. It is one of our psychedelic mushrooms that gets a bad rap, but is wonderful medicine for nerve and muscular pain. I absolutely love this mushroom! πŸ„β€

Psychedelic mushrooms, most notably the psilocybin species, have been demonised for a very long time by the powers that be, but studies are showing amazing results for these 'shrooms helping people with moderate to severe depression and anxiety and other mental health difficulties, like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. These studies are showing they reset the brain, which could lead to better avenues of help for people suffering from these mental health difficulties. Remember, no mushrooms should be orally consumed if you do not know what they are. Some are VERY poisonous! ALWAYS err on the side of caution.

Fly Agaric is a toadstool and very recognisable, with its white spots over a red cap. It isn't a psilocybin mushroom, but is still a psychedelic. Unlike some of the other psychedelics, it should not be consumed internally, as it can cause liver failure, but provides amazing relief externally for nerve pain, like sciatica and trigeminal neuralgia. It's main chemical constituent, muscamol, is what relieves pain. I use it all the time for muscular pain too. I put the tincture in my creams and balms and it works a treat!!

Hopefully, the psychedelic mushrooms will become part of our Pharmacopoeia in the not too distant future! Until then, if you need some Fly Agaric pain balm, let me know!πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„

I finally made a tincture of Clitorea ternatea, better known as 'Witch's Clit'....a perfect name for Halloweentime!πŸ˜†πŸŽƒ Clitorea's common name is Blue Pea and it looks like our lovely lady parts!🌺 The really cool thing about Clitorea is when alcohol (vodka) or water is added to it, it turns a beautiful, deep, purple-y blue colour.πŸŒˆπŸ’™

Now, back to the lady parts part....because its Doctrine of Signatures is of the female genitalia, particularly the cl****is, it is used to help with female pleasure. Particularly the inability to or**sm (anor**smia) and to strengthen or**sms and pleasure. Hurrah! We always need more or**sms!!😁 I like pairing it with Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari), Turnera diffusa (Damiana), Epimedium sagittarium (H***y Goat W**d), plus any nervines that might be needed if there is anxiety around s*x that hinders or**sm. This makes for a very s*xy potion!

It's also very good for the eyes and small blood vessels, known as capillaries. Particularly in the face.

This tincture will be ready in a moon's time, the deepest, darkest blue of the night sky.πŸ’™πŸŒŒ

If you need Clitorea's s*xy blue magick to put a smile on your face and heat up your goddess game πŸ˜‰, hit the 'Book Now' link in my bio.

I am pretty proud of this tea I made for a friend. She wanted Halloween and pumpkin spice goodness in a tea! So, tah-dah!πŸŽƒπŸ–€ As a herbalist, I make ALOT of medicinal tea for clients. I love formulating the blends. And this one I had crazy fun doing as a Samhain formula in anticipation of Halloween. πŸ‘»πŸ•ΈπŸ¦‡ This tea, besides smelling absolutely divine, is great for digestion/IBS, blood sugar regulation, immunity, and is antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, and relaxing as well! It has the likes of Syzygium aromaticum (cloves), Cinnamomum verum (cinnamon), Illicium verum (star anise), and Matricaria recutita (chamomile) just to name a few.

I have a few bags made up (but can make more), if anyone is interested in having some for your Samhain celebrations.πŸŽƒ Just DM me! 30g is €15+post. I will ship internationally.πŸ˜‰

I am available for one-on-one video consultations via my 'Book Now' button in my bio.πŸ’šπŸŒΏ

09/10/2020

We are coming into the cooler months and lung tonics are going to be very important for our winter wellness to keep our respiratory systems strong. All of the herbs listed (sans Osha root) are readily used here in Ireland to strengthen the lungs. Osha is used more readily in the Americas (not as much now as it is endangered), but it could be substituted with Marrubium vulgare (White horehound), Tussilago farfara (Coltsfoot) and Althea officinalis (Marshmallow root) as these herbs help sore throats and expel mucous. Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) or Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) can be used to break fevers.

My favourites are Mullein, Reishi, and Pulmonaria. But, I use them all in my apothecary, depending on the client's needs. All of these herbs strengthen and protect the upper respiratory tract and lungs, as well as healing any problems that may be present to restore balance. These lung tonics are great for the likes of asthma, emphysema, COPD, bronchitis, colds, coughs, and pneumonia.

If you are in need of these wonderful lung tonics in anticipation of the coming winter, book in with me through the link in my profile. πŸŒˆπŸŒΏβš—
