I'm a Relax Kids Coach, an SNA and ISTD trained Dance Instructor. Creating Calm, Confident Kids in a Chaotic World
I run fun and inspiring mindfulness/activity classes for children using the Award-Winning 7 Steps of Relax Kids.Giving children techniques to calm and relax body and mind while having fun! Dance, Play, Stretch, Feel, Breathe, Believe, Relax
I teach children emotional recognition and regulation, techniques to take control of their body's response to anxiety using imaginative games, activities and props.
Each week, I take children on a magical and fun adventure. Children go to treasure island, under the sea, the farm, the jungle, the forest or outer space! Stories, songs, props, games and relaxation exercises are used to entertain and stimulate the child.
I use the Relax Kids 7 steps to Relaxation method where children warm up, dance, play games, stretch, self- soothing massage, practice some breathing exercises, use positive affirmations and then lie down with their blanket and teddies listening to relaxing meditation stories.
For the Chill Skills programme, children are given an inspiring journal to fill out each week. They learn ways to improve confidence, self-esteem, how to deal with school/exam stress, social skills, mood/anger control, growth mindset, self belief and empowerment. I also do inspiring activities with them such as vision boards, confidence bootcamps, kindness missions and other inspiring activities. Get in touch for latest course info

Today at Relax Kids Workshop the children went though the 7 steps of Relax Kids 🌈
* Move - Play - Stretch - Feel - Breathe - Believe - Relax 💜
We also did lots of social emotional learning and emotional regulation activities. 🙌🥰
🫂 Encouraging empathy and compassion by using social scenario flashcards to generate discussion. Learning to put yourself in someone else's shoes is so important from a young age.
😀 To aid with emotional regulation the children learned the Traffic Light Method, to Stop Think and Act when they feel a big emotion like anger, anxiety or sadness. Giving child practical options to choose from when big emotions hit makes them feel more in control. When done consistently can greatly improve child's ability to handle outbursts more appropriately.
Workshops run every second Saturday at Firhouse Community & Leisure Centre if you think your child would benefit from these classes please get in touch.

Some lovely ideas here from Sinead in Relax Kids Belfast 💜💫
🌧️💨Mindful Family Ideas for a Stormy Day 🌧️💨
With the arrival of Storm Eowyn tomorrow and schools closed, it’s the perfect opportunity to spend some mindful, calming time with your children. Here are some activities to help ease any worries or anxiety and bring the family together. Many of these ideas can be tweaked if you have to work from home tomorrow too.
1. Create a Calm Corner 🧘♀️
Set up/ or ask your child to make a cozy corner with blankets/ pillows/fairy lights/calming items like books or cuddly or sensory toys. Invite children to use it as a safe space to relax, breathe, and feel secure during the storm.
2. Mindful Breathing Exercise 🌬️
Guide children through simple breathing exercises. Try this one:
Breathe in for 4 seconds through their nose (imagine smelling a flower).
Hold for 4 seconds.
Breathe out through their mouth for 6 seconds (as if blowing out a candle).
Repeat this a few times to help calm their nerves.
3. Weather Watching Meditation 🌧️
Sit by the window and observe the storm together. Ask them to notice the sounds, the movement of the trees, or raindrops on the glass. Encourage them to describe what they see and hear—it can turn their attention to curiosity instead of worry.
4. Gratitude Jar Activity ✨
Grab a jar or a box, and ask everyone to write (or draw) things they’re grateful for on small pieces of paper. Decorate the jar together while chatting about positive moments from the day.
5. Story time with a Twist 📖
Choose a favourite story or create one together about a storm. Include a brave character who finds peace and calm despite the wind. Let the kids use their imagination to steer the story!
6. DIY Sensory Bottles 🌀
Make calming sensory bottles using water, glitter, and food colouring. Shake the bottle and watch the glitter settle as a visual way to practice patience and mindfulness. (There are lots of ideas on google for these jars)
7. Guided Relaxation for Kids 💤
Play a relaxation script or audio designed for children. You could even record your own! Use soothing words to guide them into imagining a safe, happy place like a sunny meadow or a magical forest. Check out my recorded visualisations on SoundCloud, link in the comments below.
8. Stormy Artwork 🎨
Create art inspired by the storm. Use crayons, paints, or markers to draw the wind, rain, or how the storm makes them feel. Creative expression can help release any pent-up or big emotions.
9. Build a Family Fort 🏕️
Transform the living room into a cozy fort with blankets and chairs, cuddle up to watch a feel-good movie or share stories.
10. Mindful Colouring 🎨
Print out or use colouring books with relaxing patterns like mandalas or nature scenes. Sit together and colour mindfully, focusing on the colours and the movement of the pencil or crayon. This activity can be very soothing for both children and adults.
11. Positive Affirmations Mirror 🪞
Write positive affirmations on sticky notes and stick them to a mirror or wall. Have children say them aloud, e.g., “I am brave,” “I am safe,” or “I am loved.”
12. Family Yoga Stretch Session 🧘
Practice gentle stretches or yoga poses as a family. Poses like “child’s pose” or “tree pose” can be calming and grounding.
13. Other ideas include jigsaws/boardgames/make a relaxing playlist/watch favourite funny movie!
If you can think of any other ideas, add them in the comments below.

Apologies for delay in reply, I'll be organising new workshops and return dates over the next few weeks and I'll reply to you all at the end of August when I have more information. Welcome to my page, Relax Kids South Dublin. I am a qualified Special Needs Assistant, a certified ISTD dance teacher (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) a qualified Relax Kids coach and a busy mum to 5 year old twins. I am passionate about children’s emotional health and wellbeing.
Relax Kids activity classes are carefully structured using the unique and focused 7 step system which leads children confidently through natural energy levels, directing high energy to low energy. Children feel engaged and the sessions are fun and energetic whilst ultimately relaxing and restorative for both body and mind.
Class Structure
Movement - incorporates dance and movement, encouraging development of core physical skills, improves coordination, boosts energy, circulation and a healthier immune system whilst helping release endorphins.
Games and Play - range of energetic and fun games that ultimately relax. The drama-based thought provoking games encourage and promote social skills and awareness. They will help build children's confidence and social, interaction and communication skills. They further develop focus and concentration.
Stretching and Balance - A set of yoga-inspired stretches are carefully demonstrated and used by the children to lengthen and stretch bodies and so improve postural awareness. These exercises help release physical tension, develop motor skills, body awareness, balance and flexibility.
Massage - Children are given the choice of taking part in self and or peer massage (with parental consent). These calming exercises promote positive touch and encourage respect, communication and empathy amongst peers. Children become aware of their own bodies and learn to respect others. Positive touch boosts the immune system, calms the nervous system, helps the production of Oxytocin and Endorphins and lowers stress levels in children.
Breathing - a range of child friendly exercises encourage deep breathing. These exercises help calm the nervous system and children feel the immediate effects whilst being taught how to use these techniques effectively for themselves. Breathing exercises also improve concentration and focus.
Affirmations - incorporates a range of games and circle time activities that enable children to confidently use positive affirmations and self praise. These enjoyable games and exercises include the use of affirmation cards and help improve children's emotional health and literacy. They also encourage the development of positive neurological pathways and promote and improve self confidence and self esteem. They also encourage the release of endorphins as children think and speak positively.
Visualisation - incorporates deep body relaxations, mindfulness exercises, guided imagery and visualisations. These exercises help release physical and mental tension, lower blood pressure, increase body awareness and give children de-stress and self management tools. Done regularly, these exercises can help relieve fatigue and promote deeper sleep while improving child anxiety. Improved deep sleep and general relaxation will improve concentration, listening skills, and memory retention whilst expanding the childs imagination and creativity.
