tattoo day
A brief history of us and what we are about. In 2013, our teenagers lost yet another friend to su***de, and it was like the last straw for them, it was like they couldnt lift their heads. The idea of a fundraiser to keep them occupied was thrown around, obviously had to be something the young people would be interested in, so we settled on a tattoo day. It took us another 3 months to get a tattoo artist on board. ( thank god for derek) mick duff was only delighted to give us the community centre, so we opened the appointments book abd on good friday we opened the doors. That first year we had people travel from all over dublin and from outside dublin to be tattooed. We had girls come in that had to squeeze a tattoo in between self harming scars. We had one girl come with her dad, he told us she hadnt left her bedroom in over 9 months, she was up at 7 that morning for her tattoo. We have had people come in every year who have never had a tattoo and they just have tea and stay for a while for the atmosphere, we have had people who were bereaved by su***de who never had a minutes counselling, now in counselling and healing. But most of all, we offer a nice, non judgemental atmosphere where u can get or not get, a tattoo, a cup of tea, a slice of cake, a bit of advice. We dont pretend to save lives and we dont think our ink is magic. But we will offer u cake, counselling, and probably a bit of stick on the day 😁 Always remembering those we lost #tattoodayhope
