The omicron COVID infection is HIGHLY contagious . If you have any symptoms such as - headache, headcold , cough, fever , aches and pains or loss of taste and smell , then isolate yourself immediately. It will take few days to get tested and get results , so start isolation before test results .
All lot of positive cases show no symptoms and this is why we still need to keep up all the usual COVID measures - social distancing, masks and hand washing. Avoid social gatherings and crowded areas.
The PCR testing services and GP services are overwhelmed so please be patient and keep trying to get through but continue to isolate .
The testing recommendations are changing from Monday 3rd January . Keep an eye on the HSE website as it has really good information on testing, isolation and close contact guidance.

For the majority of people this will be a mild illness but we all need to protect the vulnerable members of our communities who may not survive this infection. We also need to protect the health services so they can continue operating all their essential services.

COVID VACCINE BOOSTERS
We will shortly be commencing our COVID booster vaccine programme. We have been asked to prioritise this over the next 4 weeks so we will be deferring all routine medical appointments until later in January. We will continue to see urgent medical issues, childhood vaccines and antenatal care.
We will invite people for vaccines by text and we will target specific groups for each clinic.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SURGERY FOR APPOINTMENTS.
To participate , you must….
* be a current patient of the practice
* have had no COVID vaccine in the past 3 months
* have not had COVID infection in the past 6 months
We have no choice in whether we receive Moderna or Pfizer vacccines from the HSE so patients will not have any choice in which vaccine they receive.
If your mobile number has changed recently please update it with the practice.
