****VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE PRESS RELEASE****
Local election candidate confirms party commitment to pop-up pools in election manifesto
Dee Ryan, a Fianna Fáil candidate in the Roscrea-Templemore Local Electoral Area (LEA) in the upcoming local elections, has confirmed that her party’s manifesto for the election commits to supporting the expansion of Pop-Up Pools.
Ryan, who founded the We Just Want to Swim — Templemore campaign, which is calling for the reopening to the public of the Templemore Garda College pool, said the Fianna Fáil manifesto commits to “Collaborate with Swim Ireland to expand coverage of ‘Pop-Up Pools’ in each local authority.”
She said: “I am delighted to confirm that the party manifesto for the local election campaign commits to supporting the expansion of pop-up pools.
“The We Just Want To Swim campaign, which I am so passionate and determined about, is so important to our community.
"The campaign is having an impact. Presently there are five local schools using the pool, and over 300 children so far this year have had swimming lessons in the Garda College pool, all down to the pressure put on by the campaign.
“The manifesto commitment to collaborate with Swim Ireland on bringing pop-up pools to as many people as possible is a significant positive step and I will continue doing everything I can to remove barriers to access for our local swimming facilities.
“My vision for Templemore is for the community to be active and I want to continue helping to ensure that local clubs reach their full potential and impact as many local people as possible.
“I will work hard with national and local sporting bodies to increase this access on behalf of my community.”
