Important Announcement
After more than 70 years, Costigan's pharmacy has been sold to a new generation of pharmacists.
We started in 1954 when my Mam and Dad, Nance and Bob Costigan bought Darcy's pharmacy and we grew up over the shop.In 1995 my husband John and our children moved back from England and I took over the original pharmacy at 52 Main street. In 2006 we opened what we thought would be a quiet second pharmacy in Unit 3 Kyle Court in Blind street. In 2018 we built the new Kylecourt Clinic and we moved the pharmacy from Unit 3 into the bigger Unit 4. In 2020, just as the pandemic hit we merged the Main street pharmacy with the Blind street pharmacy and got the whole team under one roof.
So for me it has been a lifetime of pharmacy and just short of thirty years running the business.None of it would have been possible without my husband John holding the fort at home and all the people who have worked with me over the years. And definitely none of it would have been possible without the people of Tipp town and surrounds - what an amazing community.The powers-that-be have neglected and strangled the town but here we all are , still achieving.
I hope I get an opportunity to meet most of our patients and carers in the pharmacy over the next few weeks and to say thank you. I'm very glad that the new owners are not a chain, they are a pharmacist couple, John Kennedy and Lynsay Moore.I know that with their younger and fresher eyes they will see many new ways to continue our legacy.
Thank you to my family, to the fantastic people of the area, and always remembering the loved ones we have lost. Finally, a huge thank you to the hardest working team you could meet.

ANOTHER WEATHER UPDATE!!
Friday January 24th 2025 - due to the very extreme weather warning we will open at 2pm and close at 6pm. That is of course assuming that we have power and the roads are passable.

In the hopes of alleviating some of the stress many people seem to be feeling about their medication , here are our
Christmas Opening Hours;

Tuesday Christmas Eve Dec 24th: Open 9-2 (note the early closing)
Wednesday Christmas Day Dec 25th: Closed but contactable by Caredoc in case of emergency
Thursday Stephensssssss Day Dec 26th: Closed but contactable by Caredoc in case of emergency

Friday December 27th: Open all day 9-6
Saturday Dec 28th: Open all day 9-6
Sunday Dec 29th: Closed
Monday Dec 30th: Open 9-6
Tuesday New Year's Eve Dec 31st: Open all day 9-6
Wednesday New Years Day Jan 1st : Closed but contactable by Caredoc in case of emergency

Thursday Jan 2nd: Back to normal hours open 9-6 every Monday to Saturday

Vaccinations-
Covid-19 and Flu vaccines will be given this Thursday 14th.
No appointment necessary, this is a walk-in clinic from 9.30 to 12.00.
Covid-19 boosters are recommended for over 60s and healthcare workers as well as some other special groups. Under 60s can get the booster if they feel they would benefit from it.
Flu vaccination is recommended for all over 60s as well as a wide range of other groups.
Flu vaccinations for children - we have stock of the nasal vaccine which can be given free-of-charge to children from 2years to 12years.
Bring your PPS number and wear clothes that allow easy access to your upper arm.

UPDATE: When you read all the comments below you realise that 99.99% of the people of Tipp town are amazing.
As an older lady commented to me years ago after the Patrick's Day attacks - she said " they have the time and the money and in my day we had neither".

We have had a really busy bank holiday week, the whole team have worked so hard to make sure everyone gets their medication on time.
I stayed late tonight to catch up, left work at half 9 and completely forgot about Halloween. Got my windscreen smashed on the way home. The sound of the bang was unreal. Well done the brave lads hiding in the bushes throwing rocks and anything else they can find. And well done the parents who must know their darlings are up to no good. And well done the people watching. Many of you will rock up tomorrow expecting business as usual in our pharmacy. And it will be business as usual because that's our job but it won't be easy.

Actually the only well done is for the two kind ladies who helped me, you know who you are, I really appreciated it.
