You don't need grand leaps forwards to move the needle in the right direction.

1% better is all it takes.

Your body needs consistent corrective experiences where it can establish that the threat is no longer present so it can bring itself back to a relaxed state.

1% better trumps big jumps and even bigger relapses any day of the week.

Make sure the work you're doing is paying off.

How will you know you're doing the right things?

You should feel lighter, more confident, less worried, more hopeful after doing them.

If you're not feeling this, you might need to adjust the plan slightly. The body needs to escape the threat/fear state for this to be effective.

That's why we talk so much about mindset and doing the mental reps as much as the physical reps.

We move through the day with a lens of safety, leaving the danger detectors at home.

Healing requires top-down and bottom-up processes to occur, i.e., cognitive retraining and somatic experiences.

Conscious connected breathing (CCB) also known as transformative breathwork is an excellent tool to use to help people get out of their heads and into their body and allows the body to do the healing it needs to do to heal from past events/traumas/injuries.

Through the use of breathwork practices, you will train your nervous system to become flexible and move through the different states as intended.

Leave your session feeling a little lighter than when you walked in.

Ground contact is actually a necessity for healthy bones and joints and is something we encourage people to do.

Osteopenia and Osteoporosis are a degenerative process that happens to bones for a variety of reasons. As we age, our hormones decrease and both men and women are more susceptible to this condition at this time.

Having an active lifestyle where you do regular weight bearing exercise with ground contact is actually the best way to prevent this along with a balanced diet rich in certain vitamins and minerals.

So if the above is true and we have heaps of evidence to back this up, I urge you to reconsider your position on your sore knees and hips being caused by all the loading you put them through in earlier years, and instead clap yourself on the back for putting in some good work in the formative years to ensure you age well and have strong bones and joints.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Now let's keep the momentum going and get you back exercising if you've stopped out of fear of doing damage. πŸ‹β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ

That's a wrap!

I have been very fortunate to have been selected for ACORNS Women in Business accelerator program for 10th year running. This initiative is run by the Department of Agriculture, Food, and Marine to support businesses in rural Ireland.

Last Tuesday marked the end of my 6 months. The support and encouragement during this time was invaluable.

I've been so fortunate to meet some truly amazing women throughout this journey and to be mentored by Caroline Reidy of the HR suite who so graciously gave up her free time to support me in advancing my vision for Reale Recovery.

The wheels are in motion, big plans lie ahead for the next year. Watch this space ☘️

Backs are made to bend, and twist and have a wide variety of motion.

If they were meant to be kept straight all day long, then your spine would have been made to look like a femur, like your thigh.

Movement variety is key.

Keeping your back straight to avoid further damage or to try to limit pain, is probably contributing to the problem more than helping you. Unless you have a fracture.

The trick is to play around with the volume, and movement variety in a graded fashion to gradually restore confidence in the backs ability to bend again.

When we work on the body, we must also work on the mind.. challenge those limiting beliefs, stopping you from letting yourself do activities you once did with ease.

Figure these out, and we can find our way back!
