Two weeks on from the opening of Killarney LITE, and already it is a place full of learning, laughter, and new opportunities.
We were delighted to officially open the service alongside Minister Norma Foley and Chair of the Board Charles Watchorn, marking a really proud day for everyone involved.
Since then, the real heart of LITE has been clear — the men and women who attend, bringing energy, ideas, and a willingness to try new things every day.
LITE — Learner Inspired Training & Education — is built around the strengths, interests, and goals of each person, supporting meaningful connections within the Killarney community.
We are incredibly proud of what is growing here, and of the people who make it what it is.
LITE – where learners inspire what comes next.

Last Wednesday, our Earn as You Learn participants had their first day of the course with the Kerry Centre of Nurse and Midwifery Education at University Hospital Kerry. The Earn as You Learn Programme is an exciting opportunity which gives participants the opportunity to fulfil their Health Care Assistant role in our St. Mary of the Angels Campus, Beaufort, Co. Kerry while completing their QQI Level 5 Major Award Qualification in Health Service Skills in partnership with St. John of Gods and the Kerry Centre of Nurse and Midwifery education. This week, the Social & Rec programme got out into the local work community for Job Shadow Day, experiencing a range of local businesses.
Huge thanks to Boyle’s Ballyseedy Garden Centre, Buttermilk Café, Killarney Sports & Leisure Complex, Pony Tales Stables, The Red Fox Bog Village, and James’ Barbers for the warm welcome and support.
