Most people know St Brigid as a saint.
Few know she was also a protector of home, family, and the quiet, everyday moments that shape our lives.
It’s said St Brigid believed holiness lived not just in prayer,
but in how we loved, how we showed up, and how we cared for one another, especially at home.

On St Brigid’s Day, I wanted to share something personal.

We Are Forever

I wish I could remember
the last time I held you in my arms,
instead of wishing away
those everyday charms.
I wish I could remember
the last time I looked you in the eyes,
instead of letting slip
those gorgeous goodbyes.
So I promise this.
From here on, I will remember everything.
Every jest and your very best,
every tear, every joke and boast,
every small and frightful fear.
I promise I will never forget
your perfect little smile,
your nose, your ears,
those dimples piled so high.
You are the greatest song my heart can sing
each time you walk by.
You are my heart and my soul
and even when my blood runs cold,
we will never say goodbye.
There will never be a last time.
I will be waiting in the stars
until we meet again.
Among our friends,
within our love,
we are forever in each other’s hearts.

This poem is about the past, the present, and the future.
It is about remembering to live now.
To cherish the small moments with our children,
our partners, our loved ones,
the moments that quietly make us who we are.
It is about the future too.
About remembering that those we love
are part of it.
Sometimes all it takes
is a phone call,
a cup of coffee,
a walk.
And it is about the past.
Those we have lost.
Those we have drifted from.
Using memory not just to look back,
but to love better here and now.

St Brigid reminds us that care begins at home,
and love is something we practise every day.
Because when we remember,
we are forever.

Warmy, Erich

Family and friends remember Les Forester as a devoted husband, proud father and kind, hardworking man who left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him. Living in Kilfarrasy and formerly of Garrarus, Les was happiest surrounded by his children Alannah, Mia, Jake, Robyn and Louis, and his beloved wife Sarah. Whether pottering on home projects or lending a hand to a neighbour, he brought skill, laughter and warmth to every task. Known for his work ethic, attention to detail and easy smile, Les was always up for a chat and always willing to help. His family were his world, and every day he built his life around them with love and care. Those who knew him best remember his humour, quiet strength and the way he carried the weight of life with gentleness.

The sudden loss of Les has left a silence that words can hardly fill. One neighbour wrote, “Les was a lovely neighbour and long-time friend. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing.” A colleague shared, “Les was so kind and hardworking, a real pleasure to deal with.” Another tribute remembered, “He was a gentleman. Thinking of Sarah, his children and all who loved him.” A friend added, “He was a character, always smiling, always had time for a chat. He will be missed beyond words.” And one lifelong neighbour expressed, “Gone far too soon, a loss so deep to bear. Life takes us down different paths, but family is family, and Les will never be forgotten.” Through the love he gave so freely, the friendships he built and the family he cherished above all else, Les leaves behind a legacy that will echo quietly but powerfully in the hearts of those who loved him.

Late of Kilfarrasy, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Garrarus, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Les passed tragically on Wednesday the 28th of January 2026. RIP.

Family and friends remember Jim Morrissey as a man of great warmth, honesty and everyday decency, who made a lasting impact in both Tramore and his native The Rower. A skilled building contractor and a familiar face around town, Jim was always quick with a wave from the van or time for a kind word. At home, he was a devoted husband to Mary and a loving father to Linda, Claire, Clive and Colm. He was proud of each of them, and deeply adored by his grandchildren. Though he settled in Tramore, Jim remained proud of his Kilkenny roots, having played with The Rower-Inistioge and winning a county senior medal in 1968, a moment he cherished throughout his life. He balanced hard work with humour, and built not only homes but strong friendships in every corner of the community. His sudden passing has left a huge gap in the lives of those who knew him, but his legacy lives on in the family and friends he loved so well.

In the words of those who knew him best, “Jim was a gentleman, he had a great way about him, and always made time for everyone.” One friend shared, “We are shocked and saddened, he was such a lovely man, always smiling and always kind.” A neighbour wrote, “Every morning like clockwork we were greeted by Jim’s wave as he headed out to work. He will be missed by many.” Another tribute read, “Jim built more than houses, he built relationships. You always left feeling better after meeting him.” And one message captured the love he gave his family: “He was such a lovely man, you could see how proud he was of his children and grandchildren every time he spoke about them.” Jim leaves behind a lasting impression as a kind-hearted man, a true gentleman, and someone who will not be forgotten.

Late of Eaton Terrace, Tramore, Co. Waterford and formerly, The Rower, Co. Kilkenny. Jim passed unexpectedly, at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday the 17th of January 2026. RIP.

Family and friends remember Mary McGrath as a woman of quiet strength, compassion and unwavering kindness. Late of Ballygarron, Dunmore East and originally from Dunkitt, Mary was a gentle soul whose life centred around her family and her faith. She gave everything to her children Eamonn, Imelda and Brendan, raising them with love, patience and quiet guidance. A devoted wife to her beloved late husband Patrick and a deeply proud grandmother to John, Rebecca, Christopher, Kevin, Jamie and Sophie, Mary had a gift for making others feel safe, heard and cared for. Her home was a haven, her words were thoughtful, and her presence brought peace to all who knew her. In her earlier years, she made lasting friendships through her work at the Tower Hotel, and in later life she was lovingly supported by the carers and palliative care team who helped her family care for her at home. Her strength through loss and her love for those around her will never be forgotten.

The messages shared in her memory speak volumes of her life and the love she leaves behind. One former colleague wrote, “We worked together in the Tower Hotel many moons ago, Mary was a lovely friend, always so kind.” A neighbour remembered, “She was a lovely kind lady and a dear friend who will never be forgotten.” Another shared, “Sincere sympathy to the McGrath family on the passing of your mam, a wonderful kind lady, may she rest in peace.” From her childhood community came a message: “I remember her very well from when we were all young together in Dunkitt.” And a final tribute summed it up simply: “She was a lovely lady. May her gentle soul rest in peace.” Through her kindness, warmth, and quiet resilience, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, dignity and deep devotion, a life well lived and a woman well loved.

Late of Ballygarron, Dunmore East Co. Waterford. Formerly of Blossom Hill, Kilmacow, Co. Kilkenny. Mary died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday the 14th of January 2026. RIP.

Family and friends remember Robert (Bob) Fleming as a man of strength, wit, and unwavering kindness whose presence lit up every room. A proud Tramore resident and Retired Army Sergeant, Bob was defined by his deep love for his wife Rita and his pride in their sons Robert, Paul and Alan. Whether sharing stories in Connolly’s, cheering on his favourites at Cheltenham, or offering a listening ear to a neighbour, Bob had a gift for making people feel seen, valued and entertained. He was sharp-minded, loyal, and full of warmth — a man who could command a room not just with his authority, but with a well-timed joke or a quiet word of support. His family and friends saw in him a rare blend of strength and gentleness, a man who gave freely and expected little in return. He lived fully, loved deeply and led with humour and heart.

He is remembered with deep affection by those who knew him best. One friend wrote, “A larger-than-life character who would astonish you with his knowledge and wisdom. I’m proud to call him a friend.” A neighbour shared, “He was such a lovely man. Always a smile and a story. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.” Another wrote, “Bob was sharp as a razor with a sense of humour to match. He will be so sadly missed.” A former colleague recalled, “It was a pleasure and honour to have worked with him. Great memories that won’t be forgotten.” And a close friend offered, “Bob, you were one in a million and will be very sadly missed. You adored your family and it showed in every word you spoke.” Through his humour, his integrity and his unwavering love, Bob leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the stories we tell, the values he upheld, and the people whose lives he touched so deeply.

Late of Somerville, Tramore, Co. Waterford, Retired Army Sergeant. Bob passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the Mater Hospital, Dublin, following a short illness on Saturday the 10th of January 2026. RIP.

And thank you. In 2025, more families than ever travelled to us from outside Tramore, and your kind reviews have meant a great deal to our entire team.

Here are five questions every family deserves clear answers to, before they ever need them:

1) What do Falconers do that others don’t?
We offer practical care that eases pressure, including Star Kids Care Packs, clear online pricing, and an award-winning parlour where local artists showcase support.

2) Where do families actually find that support? We’ve designed our modern website to make decisions easier, with clear guidance, transparent information, and what matters most made easy to find.

3) What if there has been no planning at all? We slow everything down. Families are welcomed privately, step by step, in our purpose-built, state-of-the-art parlour with free parking. We take care of the details, and we can also visit families at home, if that feels more comfortable.

4) What if the funeral was pre-planned? We honour the wishes already set out, and support the family just as carefully when the time comes. (Visit our Funeral Wishes form online to ensure your wishes are kept.)

5) Do you offer more than notices? Yes. We share guidance and support year-round through our Forever Remembered community, and personalised Family and Friends Remember notices that truly reflect each life. Our team is also available 24/7.

Every family is also offered a free memorial wall through RIP Ireland, creating a lasting space to share photo memories and build your remembrance community, long after the funeral has taken place.

Family and friends remember Martin Marks, known lovingly as “Mar”, as a kind-hearted man who built his world around loyalty, laughter and love. He grew up on Barrack Street and later settled in the Military Barracks with Kathleen, the love of his life, where they raised a family full of character and care. A proud father to Vicky, Martina, Donna and Martin, he lit up whenever he spoke about his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and was already looking forward to meeting the next generation. Martin was happiest when surrounded by family, whether that was playing darts with friends, reminiscing in the heart of Ballybricken, or having a quiet chat outside the house with a neighbour passing by. He lived a full and grounded life, shaped by hard work, real friendships and the joy of simple things. The kind of man who saw the good in everyone, he made you feel seen, valued and never rushed.

Many who knew Martin have spoken from the heart in recent days. One friend said, “To Martin’s family and friends – so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Martin in our younger years in Kiely’s Brewery. Even in our later years, whenever we met, he always had time for a chat.” A loving grandson wrote, “Rest in peace Grandad, I love you and miss you so much. I know you’re not with us in body but in spirit – and that’s a comfort I’ll hold on to for life.” A neighbour remembered him as “a true gentleman who always had a smile and a chat for everyone – I’ll miss our little talks.” Another tribute simply read, “You’ll be sadly missed. Rest in peace in heaven Martin.” And perhaps most movingly, a granddaughter wrote, “I’ll meet you in paradise Grandad – have a party in Lanzarote for us until we meet again. This isn’t goodbye, it’s I’ll see you very soon.” Martin’s legacy lives on through those words, through the family he adored, and through the many lives he touched with his warmth, humour and unshakable loyalty.

Late of Military Barracks, Waterford City. Formerly of Barrack Street, Waterford City. Martin passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday the 13th of December 2025. RIP.

Family and friends remember Nicholas O’Connor as the kind of man who brought light, laughter and pure heart into every space he entered. From his early days in Castle Street in Waterford City to his life in Riversdale Park in Tramore, he carried with him a natural warmth that drew people in and made them feel at ease. Those who worked with him in Waterford Crystal still speak of him fondly, remembering his humour, his pride in the craft, and the friendships formed there. His time with McDonalds Builders and his lifelong connection to Tramore Boxing Club gave him communities he cherished. At home he was devoted to Helen, his best friend in all things, and he was endlessly proud of Gemma, Jennifer and Nicholas Jnr, whose lives he filled with joy, mischief and music. His grandchildren were the pride of his later years, and he faced illness with a courage that inspired everyone around him. Nicholas lived with an energy that made ordinary days memorable, always greeting others with a smile and a quick word that made life feel lighter.

The love people had for him is clear in the tributes shared. One person wrote that they remembered working with him in Waterford Glass and growing up with him on Castle Street and that the memories would stay with them always. Another said he was a true gent and an absolute pleasure to be around and that there are many stars but few that shine so bright. Someone else described him simply as always the funniest person in the room. A neighbour said that he made even the hardest days brighter during treatment with his constant smiling and storytelling. And another wrote that he was full of fun and laughter and that once you turned the corner to the house you could hear the beat of his music before you reached the door. These memories tell the story of a man who gave everything of himself, who loved people deeply, and who left a mark that will not fade. His family can hold close the knowledge that he was adored by many and that his joy, kindness and unforgettable presence will continue to live on in every heart he touched.

Late of Riversdale Park, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Castle Street, Waterford City. Formerly of Waterford Crystal, McDonalds Builders and his beloved Tramore Boxing Club. Nicholas passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday the 8th of December 2025. RIP.

Family and friends remember Nick Power as a gentle, warm-hearted soul whose presence brought light into every room and music into every gathering. Born in Tramore and later embraced by Galway’s vibrant trad community, Nick carried both places in his heart with equal pride. People speak of him not in grand gestures but in the quiet ways he made life better. They remember him walking Mucker through Kennedy Park and along Rahoon Road, always stopping for a chat, never in a rush, always ready with kindness. They remember the way he played the bodhrán with a soft confidence that anchored every session, and the way his smile lifted even the heaviest day. Nick’s life was one of generosity, gentle humour and steady friendship, and his family take comfort in knowing he was surrounded by deep affection both at home and across Galway’s music world.

Family, neighbours and musicians have shared memories filled with affection and gratitude. One friend wrote that his warmth lit up Irish music sessions in Galway and that a friendlier man one could never meet. Another said that Nick’s peaceful energy will be missed and that he was a pleasure to meet always. A musician remembered him as kindness itself and said that the trad community has lost a gentleman. Someone who shared a home with him in his younger years recalled how visitors always left smiling because he brightened every day. A final tribute came from a long-time friend who said that many roads were travelled together for music and that there was no better friend, no kinder heart and no man more deeply missed. These memories now form a tapestry of love that his mother Margaret, his sister Mary, his brothers Pidgeon, Pat and Perry, and all his extended family hold close as they say goodbye to a man who was cherished by so many.

Late of Kennedy Park, Tramore, Co. Waterford, and Rahoon Road, Galway City. Nick passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday the 7th of December 2025. RIP.
