People-pleasing, the act of prioritising others' approval and happiness over one's own, can stem from various reasons. Here are a few common underlying factors:

1. Approval and acceptance: Some individuals may engage in people-pleasing because they desire validation and fear rejection. They may believe that meeting others' expectations will lead to acceptance and avoid potential conflict.

2. Fear of criticism: The fear of being judged or criticised may drive people to please others. They may go to great lengths to avoid confrontation or negative feedback, even if it means compromising their own needs and values.

3. Low self-esteem: Individuals with low self-esteem may seek external validation as a way to boost their self-worth. People-pleasing can serve as a way to gain a sense of worthiness and avoid feelings of inadequacy.

4. Need for control: Some people-pleasers may believe that by meeting others' expectations and keeping them happy, they can maintain a sense of control over situations and relationships. It becomes a way to avoid uncertainty or conflict.

Its important to check in with how we are feeling. Why?
We often shut down the feedback from our body, mind, and soul, in the interests of just getting on with things.
By emotionally checking in, we become more self-aware which provides us with helpful information that allows us to better nurture, love and care for ourselves and then others.
