In nature magnesium is only present in a compound form. In animals and humans, the blood plasma contains 2.4-3 mg % magnesium. The adult human body contains about 25-30 grams of magnesium, half of which is found in the bones as calcium-magnesium-phosphate and the rest is in various organs (eg. liver, muscle).
