🦶 Winter Foot Care Tips for People with Diabetes ❄️
Cold, wet weather can be tough on your feet, but a few simple steps can help keep them healthy and protected this winter!
âś… Keep feet clean & dry
Change your socks daily (or whenever they get damp) and wear waterproof footwear. If your shoes get wet, switch to a dry pair as soon as possible.
đź‘€ Inspect your feet daily
Check all over, especially between your toes. If you notice any issues contact your podiatrist.
đź’§ Moisturise daily
Apply moisturiser to prevent dry skin, but avoid putting it between your toes.
🔥 Avoid extremes of heat
Keep your feet warm, but don’t use hot water bottles or sit too close to fires or heaters. Aim for a steady, comfortable temperature.
✂️ Trim toenails carefully
If you have difficulty trimming them, or notice any foot problems, book an appointment with your podiatrist.
