As busy nurses we want to try and help as many people as we can and hate to see anyone waiting for long periods or worse not being seen at all.
Over the years working in busy clinics, I know we can get caught up in "the slots" and getting through "the list". We have to remember that each person on that list has a whole life that goes along with them.
You might only experience their wound for 30mins, twice a weekly. That person has no choice but to experience it 24/7.
It is so important to listen to our patients and address their concerns and issues.
And don't forget it's the patient who has to live with YOUR plan. So include them from day 1, take any feedback on board, be practical and realistic.
Living with a wound can be a traumatic experience so do what you can to make it a little easier and a bit more comfortable for your patients💜
