Worth a read. I know some of my clients heard of this case a while back.
Important to note is that this 'machine' was a variation of a variation. It was Lagree-based equipment and an 'in-house' fitness programme apparently designed for the equipment. It's being called 'Pilates' but is far from the system of Joseph Pilates.
The sad outcome for this young violinist highlights the challenges of large group Pilates-based apparatus classes. Equally, however, it highlights the importance of comprehensively trained Pilates teachers and reasonable class sizes.
A lengthy training is required to become a Comprehensive Pilates teacher, certified by an acknowledged training body. Comprehensive Pilates teaching practice is respectful of the system of Pilates. Public safety and Integrity of the method is paramount. Always check your teacher's credentials and the quality of the equipment you may use.
