Family Peer Support Service Expert by experience led Family Peer Support Service for family members, carers & supporters of people with Mental Health challenges.

Supporting someone with mental health challenges in the family can often be a difficult and overwhelming experience for family members. Families can often feel uncertain about the future and how to respond to their loved ones distress. Families generally focus on the needs of their family member and may be slow in getting support for themselves. When family members are supported to focus on their

own self care, their family member experiencing mental health difficulties will also benefit. The Family Peer Supporter can offer ongoing emotional support and direct you to other resources and supports that might help you and your family cope positively with the challenges you face.

Croí Supports Carers Week 2025 💜

“To the Stroke Carers I’ve Met at Croí:

Every day brings a new challenge and every day, you show up. Stroke may change the journey, but you’ve learned how to bend without breaking. That’s resilience.

Working as a Community Stroke Support Specialist and having the opportunity to host our monthly Carers Support Group Meetings here at Croí has been one of the most humbling parts of my work so far. These women—who are mothers, wives, daughters, and wonderful professionals —have shown me what real strength looks like. They carry love, fear, fatigue, and fierce hope, often all at once.

They don’t call themselves heroes. But I’ve seen the quiet bravery it takes to face each day, to keep going, to keep caring. You’ve taught me that resilience isn’t loud, it’s patient, steady, and deeply human.

Thank you for letting me walk a part of this journey with you.” – Beatriz Gómez Maestre, Community Stroke Support Specialist
